Researching New Brakes

my guess is the pads will eventually make contact after a few hundred more miles. PP only has different pads for front and I do believe the surface area is larger then the other pads. could it be a different compound? also the rotors are the same so it shouldnt make a difference for fit.

They are squealing a little bit... I have also noticed that when I first apply the brakes, they feel mushy, but then if I let off and reapply right away, it catches right at the top and a lot stronger. Does that sound like a or in the lines??
 
That's probably just the break in coating not worn off yet. It will get better with time. Just don't get them really hot for the first 500 or so miles. Or you will  toast the pads.

Sounds like the normal feel, lack of pressure behind the pedal. They should stop better in the long run though. Don't know if anyone else does this, but I'm a fan of taking off break fluid res. cap when I'm compressing caliper pistons. Something about resetting them and pushing that pressure back into the system I don't like. Has seemed to help on our truck.

Just ordered the stage 4 kit for the front of my MKS.  I can't find a kit for the rear.  I found the pads, but EBC doesn't list any rotor for the rear.  Anyone know which rotor will fit the rear for the MKS?  I have a 2012.
 
Rock auto has the Powerstop cross drilled and slotted rear brake kit Part#k-4744 for 140.00,best bang for your buck,with ceramic pads.

I'm pretty sure they are the same as the SHO.
If your looking for ebc the rear number is
7280. Just a matter if you want slotted only
(USR 7280) 
or cross drilled /slotted (GD7280)

Just got a heads up, the Back pads that were on back order are now being shipped. I'm being told I'll get my brake kit in around October 1st! (kind of annoying since I got my front kit 4-6 weeks prior to that) Oh well, such is life! Once I get them in and installed I'll have pics and and update for everyone!
 
My guess is they will be in stock shortly. I went with Place for Brakes. Haven't had any complaints so far, and they always have answered their phone when i call. Super nice too! I ordered the front kit (S4KF1273) and back kit (S4KR1204)

Exactly my thoughts SHOdded!!!! i'm just getting antsy because i'm out of town for work from mid october till christmas.... So i'd ideally like the brakes broken in before i get my Tune (christmas present to myself!!!)
 
here's a question, On the EBC's, the front rotors are 12.8 inches, but the rears are 13.0 inches...  :confused:
have the taurus rear brakes always been bigger than the fronts???
 
Tuesday Update:

Talked to Place for Brakes. Sounds that EBC plans to ship out the Pads i need for the rear set in the next 2-3 weeks....

Place for Brakes sales manager emailed me today an hour or 2 after I called. While this is reassuring, I put all blame of my situation on SHO-TYM... because i have a strong feeling he got the last set of pads for this set in the states....

So at this rate, i won't see my new brakes until November i'm thinking and with the holidays and travel, i'm quite booked. So who knows when i will get these installed. Might even have to bite the bullet and take them to a shop to have them install it for me since i don't have a heated garage :(
