Researching New Brakes

I APPRECIATE THE OFFER Glock-coma!!!

MOTHER OF GOD!!!!! MY BACK BRAKES ARRIVE OCT 15th!!!!!! Only 50 days between the 2 shipments.... lol

fianlly... i have the back set.... i have the front set..... i have my caliper piston compression tool rented.... SUNDAY WILL BE THE DAY I FINALLY GET THIS TAKEN CARE OF!!!!!!!!

and you can all bet i will have some sort of post after on my thoughts as soon as they are on and then as soon as they're broken in!

Guess who has new brakes?! ..... not me....... Dealership decided to not replace my lug nut key/lock/socket and i didn't notice till yesterday.... i'm going to have a nice talk with them on my lunch break

No matter.  This is trivial (though frustrating) compared to the wait for the parts!  Victory SHALL be yours :)

they're..... finally..... DONE!!!!!!!!! so far, so good. only have 10 miles on em! plan on babying her for 200 minimum. Might have to be "that guy" on the highway that leaves like 100 yards between me and the car in front of me!

Pics will be up tomorrow!

Instead of starting a new redundant thread, I'll ask here. I'm looking for opinions on which brake pads to go with. It's between Hawk HPS and EBC Red Stuff. Thoughts on which one is best for heavy street use on our heavy cars?

What i ended up reading that i liked most about the Red stuff Pads is that they don't need heated up to get the best bite. Just break em in and go have fun. Plus if you have Red calipers.... they match! haha.

Everyone has differnt opinions which pads offer better stopping ability and performance, having tried almost every pad,had great sucess with the Hawk hps semi-metallic pads, come in street use, track use and offer great stopping ability when cold and are more gentle on your rotors than ceramics, meaning you will get more life out of your rotors in the long run.

That's all I'm looking for. Just wanted to hear from people on our platform as to what works best. I was leaning twards hawk hps. How do they compare to stock pads?

I havent tried them on my SHO yet, still have the original with 17k,but installed the Hawk HPS SEMI-METALLIC on my BMW which in weight are close, first thing that i noticed was that first initial bite upon install felt great not spongy, and the stopping power was better than my previous Akebono ceramic pads which only plus was the rims were clean, compared to semi-metallic are dusty, but take the tradeoff anyday, they work great when cold and dont have to warm them up,go to the Hawk site to follow the break in procedure.

Depressing update for anyone still following:

Brakes have about 200 miles on them as of Oct 25th. Then I got shipped out to Canada for work and haven't seen my second favorite woman since then..... So i can't exactly tell you how the really feel after being broken/bedded in since i still have another 200-400 miles to go. In all reality, i'm just going through 100% Taurus SHO withdraws in general. haha. there really isn't anything enjoyable about a Hyundai Santa Fe for 5 weeks other than work is paying for the gas and for me to drink it.... Thanksgiving can't come soon enough :(

Haha, now i read back on that... you're right, hell i even scared myself now i read that. LOL.

Yeah, i'm home for thanksgiving hopefully and she'll get her fair share of driving, thats for sure!

Finally got to Bed in my brakes this past weekend! everything feels amazing! I'll have pics in about 2 weeks when i get back from my work trip!

Didn't think it would take me till Dec 1st to get this entire project done from order to fully bed in... haha!
