SHO exhaust thoughts?

I'm looking to put a different exhaust on my 2010 SHO. I have looked at numerous exhaust systems and I looking for advice on what is good performance wise and sound. I want the Corsa exhaust but do not want to drop that much coin right now. So any cheaper exhaust that still sounds good out there?

I think the long and short of it, that none of the aftermarket exhausts really offer much in the improved performance department. New downpipes are the best way to get improved performance in the exhaust and then go with an aftermarket exhaust. Downpipes would be on the list before changing the rest of the exhaust if you want to improve performance.

Dynomax axleback setup that can be had from Advance for less than $200. You won't see much gains from any catback, so why spend that much for a Corsa or any big setup. The axleback gives it plenty more ear candy.

What makes You happy  may not apply to others .

MANY  folks get the FULL setup because of fit and finish and knowing it will last the life of the car , they will never have to second guess themselves for only  doing a half way install.
NO disrespect intended , I've known too many folks over the years that have regretted doing it on the cheap later on .

or Advance Auto :D though you have to wait for the best deals.  $256 net right now pretax.  AutoAnything does not seem to list the 39502 or any Dynomax for the Taurus for some reason.

You have to buy each side independently. All this info was on one of the old forums before this on sprung up. It's more expensive to buy the whole kit. You buy each part number (left and right side), the only thing you don't get is the clamps, which honestly are like $3 each and you only need two. Then find a good coupon code on retailmenot. I think I had 25% off or something like that. Total with shipping when I got it was like $180 to my door.

None taken. I just don't see the point of spending $1200+ on a catback exhaust system that is going to be pretty much for sound. I also don't consider the axleback a "halfway install"...I just don't need "$1000" of piping that isn't worth it. I could have an exhaust replicate the same thing for significantly less.

I'm gonna give that an Amen!

I feel the same way about big brake kits.

I did exactly that when I first bought it due to lack of funds.  An x-pipe (magna flow) or Nesho in place of the resonator and simply a pair of quality flow through mufflers magna flow, dynomax, borla welded in, work fine.

I can understand why you would want to remove the resonator but why would you use an x  pipe instead of 2 straight pieces of pipe ?
It looks to me that this is taking  the exhaust from each downpipe and merging it  in the cross section  causing at least some turbulence and restriction before splitting again into the rear dual exhaust .
The  Corsa  does not do this and has no x pipe.... its straight through .

I've been wondering that as well. I get x pipe vs h pipe but no clue how it compares to straight through...

Its my understanding, believe it or not, that an "x" configuration actually flows more efficiently than individual pipes.  I guess testing has shown this.  NASCAR cars use the x as well as the newest versions of the Shelby GT-500. The sound sure does sound nice as well IMHO.  I will be bolting up a Corsa system soon so I'll let you know first hand.

Perhaps the x-pipe is also to equalize backpressure on all cylinders, especially given the difference in length of the down pies from ant and post 3 cylinders... So that all perform the same
