SHO smoking like chimney at idle

Last night was 12 degrees out, and at idle my 14 smoked like chimney. Now you guys have me wondering. My buddy's wrex without cats parked right next to me seem to smoke less than my Sho.

How do I check the valve cover for leak/oil/smoke, anyone have any pics or specifics where and what I need to look for and take off?

Rumor has it, #6 cylinder is usual suspect. Rear bank driver side. Remove boot, inspect for oil.

More likely a blown turbo seal from the amount of smoke you are seeing IF there is a leak.  What color was the smoke, blue?  That would be oil.  White is water, black is fuel/carbon.

If there is a problem with the valve cover gasket, removing & inspecting the spark plug boot would tell you.

It's definetly a thick white smoke. So I'm glad it's not blue. I guess a bit of smoke during winter is normal, but that much I was really wondering why. I am using 93 octane as well. This morning there was still plenty at idle during warm up, but not as much as last night. Either way I will have to check cylinder number 6 one of these days as soon as it gets warmer. Otherwise had it been blue, I woul take it in ASAP.

If you had enough water condense in the exhaust system overnight, that can cause a nice white cloud at startup, though should settle down after a minute (maybe less) to more of a wisp.  To be cautious, check for low coolant level and/or presence of odor from exhaust.

We need a video to determine for sure. Can you smell oil being burt? Or any odd smell at all?

No offense but are you certain it's not condensation?

Both of my EB cars do this when parked outside overnight.  I usually only have 1 car in the garage at a time, and the one left in the driveway has a lot of white smoke out of the exhaust on start up when its cold.  Seems to just be condensation.  No color, no funny smell and it goes away for the most part after everything warms up

I still think it's steam... due to the rapid rise in engine temp.  Mine does it too.. but it's steam for me, I'm sure.

It's water vapor (steam, condensation, ect..) just a biproduct of the combustion process and the temperature difference of the exhaust.

I've been keeping my eye on my lately, and it seems that it's just vapor, cold weather. That one night I only drive the car for 3 miles and left it out all day, so when I came back it was smoking, but I think it's no normal.

That is basically condensation due to the car being cold,thats why typically you see less smoke and water when the car is warmed up,another note is thats why your mufflers have holes on the bottom side of the mufflers,to properly drain any accumilated h2o-water during the combustion process,also there is water buildup from low lying areas in the exhaust system which will dissipate when car reaches normal operating temerature.
