Slow throttle response on Explorer Sport?

The way its sounds to me its probably the piping from the rear turbo connection by the firewall came loose,it is very common for them to get loose and even come off at wot,Rich is also correct but if you have warranty why not use it.

Oh I didn't know dealerships worked differently in Canada about inspections. That sucks! I would be furious if my vehicle was having issues and it was still under warranty and they said to wait a week to come in. I had actually changed my thermostat and bought some coolant from an auto parts store. I just felt like the coolant wasn't the right temperature rating. Drive to a dealership, told them for some reason my coolant was low and wondered if they wouldn't mind testing it real quick. A tech came out to my car (didn't wait in the line) tested it, then even took my car in and checked for leaks and said I was good to go. Maybe worth a shot just to see if someone could just look around for a min? If anything maybe they could give you a little piece of mind?
From the sounds of it, hearing air, and from these others experience with with hoses literally ripping or coming off, it does sound like a boost leak, this is something one of those experienced Techs should be able to figure out very quickly. Even if they can't fix it right then and there at least you could know oh ok there isn't a baby alien in there waiting for you to put your hand in the wrong spot. I don't know how u do it, but u sure must have a lot of patience to have no power and be like its ok see you in a week. I'd say my car has no power it won't drive, it's under warranty, I need a rental, like days ago. Then if they say it's ok to drive, then you can at least know if anything catastrophic were to happen that they gave you the ok to drive it and if your engine blows up, they'll have to go to bat for you instead of trying to **** around with the fine print of the warranty. Hope you get this sorted, sad to know there is an ecoboost on the road not ecoboosting :)

Try this.

Hold the start button without the brake until the engine light comes on. Do not start engine.  Release brake and press gas pedal to floor smoothly and release. Press start button to end run mode. Start vehicle and test throttle response

Hey thanks a lot for this. What brake do i release though?

I'll weigh in a bit here. I've owned dozens of turbo cars and 2 seconds IS bad lag usually caused by an oversized/poorly sized(unless it's a dyno queen set up chasing huge numbers) turbo and the ecoboost set up in the Ex Sports is not that. Even stock mine was nowhere near that. There is however that annoying pause when matting it from a dead stop but my LMS tune fixed that issue. These turbo are so well sized(a bit undersized maybe ?) that with my downpipe/full exhaust I can hear mine spool when I first fire the car up and its in open loop. If I'm outside and wait till the ECU goes closed loop and idles down, I can hear the turbos spool down too. Kinda neat but my exhaust is a bit louder than I'd prefer, I still haven't gotten around to having  the dead end J pipes fabbed up yet.  So I have to believe that you do have a leak/split somewhere in the system.  Good news is that when they find it, your gonna be surprised how spry it is after 8)  Also I'm at 26K miles now and I've been in sand mode probably 24K of those miles, it's the first thing I adjust when I start the motor before climate control or entertainment ;)

The only thing pointing to a leak is the fact that he now mentions he hears air. On a stock setup without bov u will not hear any air, and very hard pressed to even hear the turbos spool.
I also ran stock for quite a few K before tuning and from his original post this is exactly as I would have described the turbo lag in my x

Are you serious?

Sand mode is great throttle response but it always keeps the car in at least one gear lower than normal. I feel like it's REALLY tough on the car to be in sand mode?

Calling these cars "Sports" is a stretch, for sure. At least coming from a jeep srt8. I just got married and bought a house- I feel like a moron running a turbo car with such a restrictive exhaust. I'm positive this thing will come alive with a turbo-back.

Interesting thread. hope everyone is fixed up by now

This caused the pssshhh sound and throttle lag on my SHO.

I've been having an issue and this is exactly what I found, my pipe was ripped right where it attaches to the front turbo inlet. Do you have the part number on hand by any chance?
