Step one ?

New to the forum and have a question for the SCT tuner. I originally got it for my old 3.7 mustang and loaded the tunes (thru BAMA tune). Before I traded up for my new SHO, I did return the mustang back to stock, therefore unlocking the SCT. My question is will this tuner work with my SHO and be able to get tunes thru Livernois. I hear they're the best when it comes to SHO/Ecoboost vehicles.

It should if you have a 10-12 but you won't be able to get Stage 4+.  If you have a 13-14, you need a MyCal.

Yeah I have a 10. And I don't plan on going more than maybe a stage 3. Probably stage 2 realistically. What other mods would you suggest? Just the usual like CAI, exhaust and a tune?

Springs.  Eibach or H&R.  I wouldn't even bother with Stage 2 or 3.  With an SCT, Stage 4 is where it's at.

I would also consider Torrie @ Unleashed Tuning.  I have both Livernois and Torrie's and for the money, Torrie's are as good or better.  Almost immediate turnaround time from Torrie.  Ask others about recent Livernois service...

If anyone is having a problem with LMS, email blowe@livernoismotorsports.com  He will take care of you.  If you are having problems with colder weather on your 13-14 SHO or XSport, ask for the CW (cold weather) tune.  I talked with him today and it's ready.

wait the stage +4 is only available on the 10-12 SHO's right ? OK so is the XV1 the equivelant of the stage +4 for the 13's meaning it carries the boost to the shift point like that list shows the stage +4 does which is not available for the 13's ? So is the XV1 for all years though ? what benefit is it over the stage +4 for the 10-12 SHO's ?

I would not mess with anything below a stage 3 with 93 octane. Go all out for th ehigher octane tune, but also the different stages control the traction control / advance trac differently with the "limited torque management" The factory traction control doesnt seem to know what to do with the added power and changed shift points. My car does some stupid stuff if I drive it hard with the traction control on. It works perfectly if I drive it in "S" mode with the traction control off. I get a little tire slip but no complete engie shut down on the rev limiter if the tires break loose even a tiny bit. I don't think the tune is perfected yet for the 13's for that traction control / advance trac stuff. Somewhere the computer is messing with the cars performance and / or not jiving with the aftermarket tuning if you drive it hard with the traction control on. I don't know if I explained it right but I thinki they still have some tuning work to do on it. That being said with the stage 3 turning the traction coltrol off and driving in "S" mode it runs great. TC on and in "D" with downshift and any tire spin it hits the rev limiter hard and shut the car down completely and has to wait to recover. Maybe to save the trans, or thw AWD I don't know... LMS basically acknowledged this to me about 2 weeks ago and offered to give me a stage 3 tune for 93 with altered shift points. I figured no for now I'll just put it in D and turn the TC off if I want to driver it harder. I haven't messed with turnig the Advanced Trac off completelty really....no real need to that I can tell with my driving and at my power level. Maybe if I had some beter tires and wanted to squeeze every ,01 of ET out of the car it would make sense too.

I just say all that becasue you really want to have the ability to pretty much disable the TC (at least 90% or what ever turning it off gives you with the tune) until the 13 tunes are perfected.

manual transmissions sure are easier to drive lol !!!!!!!!

I am running Stage 4+ in a 2012 SHO.  If I launch from an idle with the traction control on, it goes crazy.  With TC off, it does fine even launching at 2200.

The new Xv1 will be for all years, 91 and 93 octanes.  For the 13-14s it will carry the boost out.  For the 10-14s, it will add more boost utilizing the 3 Bar sensor.  The motor will also run a little cooler with the new T Stat and tuned control of the fans.  That's about all I know at this point.

Tried loading my tune files today. Guess what? I still don't have them! The links I was sent in email were only to update tuner. I assumed based on someone comments here that opening tuner app would load tune files. NOT!

Needless to say, again I am discouraged by this. First it took almost a week to get files. In which I admit I was a bit impatient. Now what I received is incomplete. And, the tuner appears damaged. Am I the only one with this bad luck and/or service?

Dave at LMS did help me figure that I had not received tune files. But no fix until maybe Monday when someone at shop. Dang! This sucks!

What seems to be damaged?  I don't know Dave.  He must be new.  Try emailing Brandon at blowe@livernoismotorsports.com  Maybe he will be in tomorrow or can help you out somehow.

Sorry to hear about your frustrating experience.    (I'm the world champion instant gratification guy, so I understand)

I would call them on Monday.  Besides the tunes you ordered have them email you step-by step instructions so you don't have this kind of thing again.. and you can post them and be an EBPF hero!

'til then... enjoy the season!.. and have one for me  :beer2: :alkashi:

Not sure. But you can hear the whole internal tuner rattle around inside the tuner case. Like its not secured and attached to the tuner display and backing. This may or may not be a problem now as tuner "SHOULD" still work. But considering I bought new, I should have new!

I will definitely be calling someone on Monday. I will also try emailing Brandon. Thanks for the contact.

Mine too (rattles) but doesn't seem to be a problem

LETS START AT STEP ONE
DXINT1 - Are you sure you are doing everything in proper order
1st - before anything the files you receive in email are loaded on to PC
2nd - One of those files are an exe to load program
3rd- Then open program
4th - Then plug tuner into PC
5th - Then to vehicle

When your all done - you can go back and open program on PC and view history to see what files were transfered

Exactly. With additional step between2 and 3 to update tuner firmware. That is the "update" application that was included.

Once tuner now plugged into PC, there are no other files for it to load. My understanding from Dave at LMS is that there is supposed to be another set of files that I map to load onto the tuner. Then install onto car.

These are the 2 files that I was given links for. No more, no less!

I'm a nuts and bolts guy way way more than computer stuff

So - you got those two files and loaded them on PC ?
Did it create a desktop tuner run icon?

I had a lil trouble at this step too. I had to download the file 3 times to the tuner before it 'successfully' loaded. Are you trying to load from the desktop Icon right? That's what worked for me.  Admittedly I'm a hardware guy, not a Tech guy.

I had a really hard time with my SCT Tuner the first time... Lots of the problem was me... but since I was running windows 7 64 bit, I had to do an update on the tuner before it would work...  Had 32 bit software in it.  Oh Well..
eventually I got as smart as it and figured it out... LOL

So.. if you are having issues... JOIN THE CLUB... !!!!!!!

If you didn't you are tooo smart to be posting here!!!!!!

You speak of 3 files or 3 attempts to load? I ran both apps half a dozen times or so with same result.  As shown in the pic, I only received 2 files. The newly created desktop icon connects to server for all updates I presume. But someone here mentioned thats how it keeps the tunes updated when changed. I do NOT have initial tune files. So either they did NOT write them for me or just did NOT send me links to download with other files!

It did create the app on desktop called tuner app. I click that, it connects to server and says firmware latest version, then disconnects.

This all sounds like some unintuitive software that doesn't give feedback... and lack of instructions.  I haven't seen the software working, but i do write programs for a living and do a lot of crowd-sourcing of users... just an observation about the confusion created... let alone the frustration.

Maybe Randy at Livernois should see this thread or at least be informed by one of you guys.

Seems like simple instructions for Livernois with screen shots to let you know it's going right would be the answer
