Surgery Update

Surgery went well today from what I was told.

Still kind of groggy from the after effects of the anesthesia.

Just glad to be done with it, and now hopefully onto the road to recovery.

I totalled up all the procedures i've had over the course of my lifetime, and today's made number 13 total.

Crazy. As I told my Mom "your son's a hot mess".

Just wanted to say thank you for those who offered me well wishes and what not. They were much appreciated.

Great news, Mike :thumb:  Hope this surgery will be a distant memory very soon.  Stress on the family can be ginormous :)

Wait till the funny pills run out!!!  I made the mistake of thinking all was well after having a tooth pulled.  Keep a large bottle of IBUPROPHEN  handy!  Worked like a charm... better than Tylonol or Aspirin.

Great that it all went smoothly!

Glad it went well and that the surgery was successful.  However, I disagree with EBB I prefer Tylenol 3 with Codeine for pain...not that it really reduces pain, but it will knock you out and nothing like healing while your asleep.  Again, hope you don't have much pain and things are going smoothly.

Too bad I can't mainline the Morphine that was flowing so freely for me while doing my 2 day stint at the Trauma Center.

Thankful in retrospect that they reigned in the massive, raging infection before it got to out of hand.

But yes, oral pain meds and I will be best friends for the next couple of weeks for sure. I can already feel the sensation (of pain) beginning to return.

Surgeon & his staff laughed at me after coming out from under the anesthesia..... apparently I quipped "is it time for my beer yet?".

Tsk tsk tsk..... they all replied in unison "no beer". :(

Yes Iron Man..... yes you did.

Looks like my turbos won't be here 'til sometime Thursday btw.

So aiming for next week.

NO BEER?????    Bummer...

I have found that alcohol enhances those funny pills!!!!

And put those root fragments under your pillow... You need lots of help paying for those turbos!!!!

You ain't kidding EBB..... not sure what kind of value infected, left over, old wisdom teeth roots command as far as a premium with the tooth fairy though.

But worth a shot.

Speaking of shots, i'll behave today (as it relates to my alcohol ban) but I can't promise I won't be hitting the beer or perhaps a shot of top shelf or two following that come tomorrow. LOL.

Like you EBB, I enjoy me the spirits and libations likewise.

We will have to get a group of Midwest guys together at some point and ill bring you some beer!

You guys crack me up..... and ouch, it still hurts to smile.

Crash712us.... my Wife and I watched that video together, and we both were laughing hysterically..... me just holding the side of my face.

My Wife kept saying "don't laugh, breath, don't laugh".

Thanks everyone..... and yes a Midwest meet -n- greet would be just peachy. Especially if it involves others offering me a beer or two. :ok:

Doing much better today.  :x:

Any pain I have is simply mild discomfort, and it's a refreshing "healing" type of pain.

Not the "OMFG this sh!t hurts, when will it ever stop" type of pain.

I was able to down my 1st solid meal. Nothing gourmet mind you, but an entire box of macaroni & cheese, cooled down to luke warm temperatures. MMmmmm yum. Not!

On my road to recovery, which I'm glad. Very glad to have this stage of my life behind me.  :bandaged:

Mind you, I strongly believe I was misdiagnosed from back in March of this year, when similar symptoms crept up, and my physician just threw meds at it, and essentially masked the underlying problem (that being the infection lurking just below).

Doesn't seem to be any permanent nerve damage either, as I can "feel" everything along the right side of my face. :ok:

So that's good. I can report though that he left the dissolvable stitches a little longer than I'd prefer, as I constantly have this feeling that something is loose, or brushing the inside of my mouth.

So annoying.  :disgust:

Just wanted to provide an update, and let you all know how I was doing.

Thanks again for everyone's thoughts, words, sprinkled with a smattering of humor.

Helped me get through it all!

Glad to hear that you seem to be healing nicely...hopefully soon you will be able to enjoy a meal.  Keep getting better!
