To start this off, I am jumping all the way back to the beginning of our Taurus family blood line. This is a very rare 1987 Ford Taurus Convertible. Most people aren't aware of their existence, but this is photo evidence that they once roamed the winding roads of the USA. Let's keep this going by posting something FoMoCo from back in the past before our engines compartments were filled with all the extra cams, valves, turbos, and horsepower that they now have.

First time I have seen/heard of this.  Glad they did not go with a 2 door, would have looked 2 chunky.  Saab-ish lines in the first pic.

Mnnnn?????? Want if (3.oL YAMAHA) A PONTIAC FIERO KILLER(hay ENGINE FIRES DID THAT!!!!!!) I had always heard that FORD order 1500 YAMAHA engine for a 2seater to fight the Fiero and the SHO is born when GM killed the Fiero.

Here is my 2000 wish list that FORD killed!
3.0L SUPERCHAGED 2000 SHO(PROTYPE)
AND IT'S BLUE!!!!!

Not quite...the Yamaha 3.0L was going into a Ford Mid-engined Super Car called the Cobra 230ME, as seen here:

I don't get how they linked it with the Fiero...the Fiero was an el-cheapo car vs what Ford wanted to do with the Cobra

I'm really curious about the reporting of the Cobra 230ME getting a Turbo I4 in it...I remember following the development of this car when I was 12 years old (LOL) and I never saw reported with an I4 engine in it. I wish I had my Car and Driver Mags from back then (and why can I remember this stuff from 26 years ago but not what I did last week?!?!)
