for about a min the car is ticking very noisy at every start up
goes away once warmed up about 1/2 mile down the read
car is 2016 sho 1200 miles all stock
anybody experience this?
should i go to dealer?

I would not hesitate and simply just make an appt asap especially a brand new vehicle,i'm guessing its still on the original oil correct? Did you check the oil level? best of luck and keep us updated.  Z

A startup rattle is common with non-OEM oil filters (2-3 seconds), a minute or longer - not at all.  Could just be low oil, or could be bad phaser(s).  Had a 2016 MKX that had issues pretty much right off the bat with timing components, so wouldn't be surprised.

its all stock under 2000 miles
oil level is right on the mark
everything is motercraft from the factory
ill let you know -my dealer service is the bomb(had 3 cars with them-my dad at least 10-been with them for a long time)

so officially...
it was a defective drain back  valve in the oil filter causing the noise by not supplying enough initial startup pressure to the timing cover area.
warranty changed the oil and filter
the new filter is an fl 500 s(pretty sure that was the original too)
if you hear the noise? change your oil or at least your filter- maybe switch brands as well

they also monitored vct pids and did a relative compression /power balance test cancelling the cylinders and both tested OK

Well at least the vitals were good!  How did they find the defective ADBV I wonder, is there an easy way to tell or trial & error ...?  Good luck, may this be the last issue for a long while.

start it up listen to the heads for 1 min goes away ,8 hrs later try again x 1 week
called ford direct

they said something along the lines of timing cover/gears have sensor that needs xxx oil pressure to correctly function
do the tests listed above and change oil see what happens
there was still a small 20 sec light tick after but within what was " normal"

ill update if any new developments

sometimes the direct injection high pressure fuel pump "tick" is mistaken as a valve train tick.
the DI pump tick is normal. its mounted on the front valve cover
