I have asked local performance shops to do some work in my area and they tend to charge 50% more per hour for labor because they are a "race" shop... FYI...

Any reputable trans shop can do the work. I tend to recommend BG shops that do driveline service. They cannot flush since there is no drain plug, but they can do the drain/fill 3x etc.

Any reputable transmission shop should be able to do the job. Buy the PTU off tasca along with a compression seal, a half shaft seal kit, and about 2 or 3 quarts of mercon lv. Should run you about $800 all together. Labor should run about $500 for the job.
If you're set on Ford installing it, buy the parts yourself and see what they'll charge you to install. Dealers like to rip you off on part costs.

Explained the slip out of gear at 5000 rpm, the blown output seal, the now goopy fluid that Ford (in their infinite wisdom) put in there 5 years ago... The guy couldn't believe that anyone would have a Lincoln at that end of the RPM range. Clearly he has never heard of this "newfangled eco-whatsa-whosit-boost."

The PTU procedure is basically the same for any Ford/Lincoln with a PTU so if they haven't done a Lincoln see if they have done an Edge, newer Explorer, Taurus, Flex, etc.
My old transmission shop said they have done PTUs on a lot of Edges.
The transmissions are very similar to be it the 6F50 used with the regular 3.5 or the 6F55 used with the Ecoboost

Personally, I will be doing a PTU fluid change every 15,000 mi until an oil analysis tells me otherwise. The material is relatively cheap, and it just takes [me] a couple hours in the driveway to change out.
FWIW, I also have a cooled PTU.
