track prep

Hey Guys,

can someone point me in the direction of the thread relating to the best setup for a track day, tire PSI, RPM to leave at, T/C setting etc.. I know ive seen it on here before but no combination of words can seem to bring it up in the search box  :banghead:

I did track my car last year but didn't prep at all and couldn't seem to break into the 12's, with the mods i have i feel as though it should have run far better times even with no prep.

so the plan is to do it right this time and HOPEFULLY run some low 12's and put my mind at ease. otherwise i guess ill have to figure out whats slowing her down.

Thanks in advance

Thanks guys!!. When I had the w/m installed I had the shop do the plugs too (told them to gap them to .030) and I checked them after I tracked it and they were at .040. I'm hoping the incorrect gap and the no prep was what slowed me down. Guess we will see..

Yeah I should have just done them myself but I figured since it was in the shop I'd just let them do it.. I'm hoping that was the problem. I can't feel a ton more power after fixing the gap from just driving around town so I guess only the track will tell.

How much into the meth do you get when driving around town?  You know you are in for 100% at the track ;)

Not to burst your bubble.....all the track prep in the world isnt going to get you to low 12's starting from 13.

Unless you are at a crazy high elevations your times seem off, especially with meth.

Personally I'd get a log for AJP and let him take a look at it.

Its just hard for me to believe that the car isnt turning a time if the power is there...id simply guess that the expected power is not there

where are you located? track elevation plays a big role. what was your 60' time? us guys out west with 91 octane and over 1000 ft up struggle to hit the 12's tune only. although you should be there with w/m.
I got a 1.91 60' leaving at 1900 rpm with 37psi all seasons

I would also put back the stock intake and remove that K & N Portable Heater prior to track day, every bit helps and no dis intended.  Z

i could get you a log tonight if its not raining. no disrespect taken guys. im all about figuring out whats slowing her down. a did at least 25 log/tunes back and fourth with torrie last summer to get her dialed in but he never seemed to notice anything amiss at the time.

and thanks for all the replies!

i go to Brainerd international raceway in Brainerd Minnesota

im hoping to be! the weather looks like it will be nice!

I hope the weather cooperates - low da and no headwind would be nice for a change.  I am planning to go and so is another SHO owner from the twin cities, I believe.

Hell yeah scoles, post a log up...be more than happy to see whats going on and see if i can offer any insight

Make sure your config to log at least has actual throttle angle, map, desired tip, wastegate duty, fuel rear pressure desired and actual and maybe fuel low pressure actual and desired , and knock sensor and spark and torque source and iat2 and load and load absolute....rpm also. that should be good for diagnosing power...seems like a lot but not for diagnosing problems

AJ, don't help him too much.  If we meet up at the track, I want to have a fighting chance against him!  :drive:

Lol ...it just makes me curious...if i had to guess id say low boost and or low timing.....if the boost is there and the timing id there then it should run

Perhaps a driver mod is required lol

I can do that! One problem I had when data logging with Torrie is that my sct for whatever reason would only let me log so many pids so Torrie had to make a custom configuration. But it told him everything he needed so I'm sure it includes what you listed. Otherwise I'll make a new one.

You going brucelinc?
