Tuning by James

This was posted on another forum:

Just installed my tune from "tuning by James."  Unbelievable performance.  I was laughing when hitting the gas.  Took what I thought was already a great car to new heights.  Maybe after a week of trying this tune I'll put in the aggressive street tune he also provided lol.  2011 Lincoln MKS ecoboost *Airaid CAI* tuning by James*
2007 Lincoln MKZ AWD * wifes car
2002 Mustang GT convertible * BBK CAI * Flow master exhaust * Superchips tune * H&R race springs * Bilstein shocks and struts
1989 Thunderbird SC

I have heard of him but don't know anything about his work.  But an 35 ecoboost in a Daytona or noble kit car would be a riot

Sounds like a great path to travel down towards a blown engine.

Do you know off any REAL issues with this Tuner ?

I just thought others may want to know there MAY be another Viable Tuning option .

I actually have never heard of him or neither has most of the world judging by the lack of information available. With the recent postings on this forum of some Ecoboost tuners choosing to take some questionable routes with their tunes that have resulted in engine failures, I would steer clear of this or any new tuner until they establish a long and healthy track record with the Ecooboost engines. That is just my $.02.

X2 Bruce ... I'll be interested in your further experience with this tuner.  It would be great if another viable option emerges!  Kudos on trying it out.

Nope ...

Hey , not sure we're your coming from on this , SRT isn't interested in or wanting to try anything out ?!?!?

I don't think Bruce wants ANYTHING to do with this ......

Personal testimonials or links to testimonials about Tuning by James' work will enhance the value of this thread, while unfounded speculation will not.  Please try and keep that in mind when commenting.

James Gordon is a former SCT employee.

Below is a partial repost from F150online

First time poster. I have a 2011 SHO and initially purchased the SCT 93 Octane tune from "Tuning By James." It was outstanding. So I went back and purchased the "Aggressive Street Tune." and that one still blows my mind sometimes. I need to get it to a track or have some serious planned one on ones with some serious competition to be sure but it seems to run with some big names in power. It is the car of my dreams. A 5 or 6 year old AMG performance level in a car costing $42,000 with more features and fewer letters to remember.

Non supercharged Mustangs and Camaros and most hemi's need to be aware that a 213 cubic inch V6 in SHO form when unshackled by James is a serious contender.

Nice thing, it requires no CAI, or exhaust modifications. They don't have much effect. Just install his program. My total out of pocket is $700. I'm guessing the gain is $10 per horsepower. Best deal in town.

HAHAHA its not LMS so don't use them thats all you have to say

Don't discount a tuner just cause they are new, have poor websites (have you seen Torrie's web site?) or is unknown to the members here. There are a lot of good people out there. More bad ones I'm sure but still. ;)

For example; When I had my Legacy SpecB the best tuner around was a fellow named Sunny. When I say best I mean no matter who you asked in the Calgary area his name was at the top. He only did street tunes. That means he would drive your car up and down a stretch of road, log, tune and go again. His signature on some forums was "Gain 50lbs! Ask me how."

Google Sunny Subaru tune and his site, airboytuning.com will come up near the top of the page.)

Now days he has a mustang dyno, tunes a variety of cars. Doesn't modify, only tunes. And is not scared to post his graphs.

Time will tell if James is good and understands this engines limits. It does look like he spent time with SCT though. And they have recommended his as a tuner to some people.
