Unwrapping My New ATP +2 Turbos! THEY'VE ARRIVED!

I guess we'll find out if the SHO is tuned differently OEM from the Flex!  The boost limit difference could be a unit-to-unit variation, but I am thinking BPD has the secret black-and-white sauce in the mix too ;)

Can't wait to hear your thoughts once you get them installed sure hope all goes well.  :offtopic: BTW, I haven't been around much, on Sunday afternoon I developed a toothache that was brutal...ended up at the dentist and am now in the midst of having a root canal, apparently I've had an infection for quite sometime and I am on meds for the infection, but got some pain killers too!  Sounds familiar, I really hate month pain, but am glad it's getting resolved.  Also, Dr. thinks that the infection had gotten bad enough that it's affected me more then the mouth, I've been running a low grade fever and feeling like 5 miles of bad road for the past several days, today is the first I've felt half human!

Moving along, picked up my car today from the shop.

Didn't drive it for very long though, as I slept like crap this morning (mind you I worked last night) and had to race home to tend to the kid's and their after school activities, etc.

In short, car's noticeably "peppier".

I only laid into it, about 3/4 throttle twice, and was VERY impressed.

Turbos sound a tad bit noisier if you will. Not like it's distracting or anything, just noticeable versus the stock turbos.

Proud to report absolutely ZERO lag. None whatsoever.

Very happy about that.

I can only imagine the benefits will be tenfold once the tune file's been adjusted to compliment all the new things I have done since my last custom dyno file @ LMS 1.5yrs ago.

Side note, mechanic pal stated both the PTU & the Rear Diff fluids looked very similar to their paste like consistency from the 1st time we had changed it earlier this year.

This observation reaffirms my belief that I will be ensuring I change these fluids out twice a year.

Once in Spring, Once in the Fall.

Anyhow, i'm beat, just ate a football sized steak burrito, and i'm off to bed here shortly. I need to make up for the lack of sleep I obtained this morning.

I'll post up the pics my mechanic pal took later, as well as provide any updates on driving experience(s) as they occur.

Just wanted to shoot this initial impression out there A.S.A.P.

Thanks once again to not only all the staff over @ ATP

But also to 4DR for all of his work/involvement, not only individually with me, but also in a grander sense, the entire EB community overall.

Once again.....

Shouts out to Darreli as well for the roles he played in making this become a reality for me.

Thank you, thank you, thank you.... :thankyou:

Very cool, I need to start saving up. I do look forward to more info on your driving experiences when you have more time behind the wheel. As in the drop in boost as 4dr says he experienced.

Besides 4DR, as you and I have personally discussed, with the onset of Winter quickly approaching here in Chicagoland,  I won't be driving like an @ss (for lack of better terms) anyhow.

New tune, or not.  BPD...

All I can add to  this is: :o :o :o ::) ::) ::) ;D ;D ;D :bigthanx: :bigthanx: :bigthanx: :popcornandbeer :boom: :boom: :bow: :beer2: :beer2: :beer2: Help ME!!!!!!

I will be more than happy to report back. You know I always do.

I can tell you that on those two occasions earlier today, in which I did "lay into it" (about 3/4 throttle) I was purposely paying attention to my boost gauge only, and it tipped just a hair over 16psi.

With no ill effects.

I guess I'm leery about going full tilt into a WOT run/attempt, as I'd feel much more comfortable having everything "all dialed in" with a newer dyno file from LMS.

So I'm encouraged at this juncture to say the least, but will likely be erring on the (semi) cautious side until I do get my butt out to LMS once again.

On another note Chris..... I would DEFINITELY start saving up for these.

Why?

Well, judging by the appearance of the caked oil, as well as fresh oil, all around the main seals (on both turbos) tells me in my very unedumacated mechanical proficiency, that by pushing these OEM turbos (somewhat close) to their "extremes" that a lot of us motoring around out there, especially those of us who enjoyed track time with our SHO's, that the OEM turbos at some point, are eventually going to fail.

So I'm inclined to say a lot of us are living on "borrowed time".

Don't construe that as meaning the OEM turbos aren't solid, they are. But with some of these newer, more aggressive tune files making their way out onto the market (no matter which vendor) I personally, am feeling a 100% more solid about having these new ATP's put in place of the OEM's.

And you can't put a price on that level of comfort/reassurance my friend. That's for sure!

200-250HP Increase versus the stock/OEM Turbos.....    Nice!  :boom:
Same information here but they're cheaper and you get them from the same place Mike did (from me. :) )

Yes..... thanks 4DR. :thankyou:

I didn't have your link, and i'll add, any of you considering this upgrade should DEFINITELY purchase through 4DR.

My intent on posting that link was simply to provide the technical specs alone.

Hope the info's helpful to all of you. Especially those considering this for your own application(s) / vehicle(s).

Curious if this is something that can be done for a 14 XSport?
And if there are other required mods needed with the turbos?
Currently have airaid, Tstat, new gapped plugs, 3bar for XV1. Everything from LMS.
Also, do you need to have it dyno tuned with this install or can LMS just write new files for me?
Are there any down sides to the turbos for everyday driving?

With all that said, I will probably never see the track, this is my daily driver and just enjoy having the performance.

Thx

Problem for me is I'm in Jersey. I have two good shops I can use for install....
But neither have a 4wheel dyno. Does anyone know a good tune with 4wheel dyno in jersey or very close?
Like a Saturday trip?
