Volunteer work...

Might be a weird place to ask this but I thought I'd try since most of you have been around the block and I value the company this forum keeps.

I am wanting to know if anyone here has went on some kind of volunteer trip, be it habitat for humanity, disaster relief or something of that nature. I'm looking to help out but I would like some opinions from people who have experience in this.

Thanks in advance!

It's a wonderful idea, always wanted to do an extended "mission", only get to do a day here & there.

This is a great idea! I always get the want to help out during the Thanksgiving and Xmas time.

2 years ago we were able to help out a local family by supplying gifts for their kids. One of the best feelings I've ever had seeing the joy it brought to them and the thankfulness they had for it. Couldn't manage it this year with medical issues hitting home.

Best of luck on your endeavor, it's something special.

Thats very kind and thoghtful of you, personally having two children that i am blessed with, and personally sometimes we dont take into consideration and sometimes we forget how lucky and blessed we are having healthy children,so essentially i try to donate a small amount on a monthly basis to ST.JUDES childrens research hospital the best way i can.

Since me and my fianceé are young and free we can make the most of our time here and help out. I'd like to get out and put some global experience under my belt. Always wanted to join the Air Force but could make it work out.

I'll have to do some more research and see if it's best to go in a large group or a smaller one, or with a church or an organization.
