Weird Hesitation under WOT

When i visit the dealer and prior to any work performed under warranty usually the shop forman will drive and test the vehicle for approval for work to be done, ask for the shop forman if they dont find anything.

There is no way that they can say nothing is wrong but if they do I will be persistent. They still not call me so I am assuming they must have found something and are fixing it or still maybe trying to find the problem two hours later. We will see.

I just called them. They did all the diagnostics on the car and cant find anything wrong with it and had a shop forman drive it and he couldnt find anything wrong with it... wtf... i dont even know what to say they are all dumb. The mechanic even noticed it bit I guess they only go by what codes the computer pulls up otherwise they have no idea. I am so mad right now I dont even know what to do. I will have to go to a different shop this is redicules. Basically by saying nothing is wrong with it they are calling me dumb lol.

I don't know how many Gen IV SHOs they see in their shop.  Could very well be a lack of experience with these vehicles.  Anybody got recommendations for a good dealer service shop in IA?

I have two other Ford dealers in my area that can hopefully help and fix whatever the issue is. I just can’t believe these guys are saying nothing is wrong and car drives as “normal” when you can feel and see it having issues. I will try to take a video after I pick it up and post it on here. I can always datalog but I would need to figure out what all needs to be logged. I have the datalog software set up on my laptop but that was for a previous car that was n/a, I am sure I need to log different things for the SHO.

Dealers are a huge waste of time for the most part.  The curse of having a car under warranty.

Tune it, gap correct plugs to .30 and see if that fixes it :)

SHOdded is correct in regards to the lack of experience with our cars,a valid point is prior to purchasing my car last year visited a few Ford dealers, first dealer had 0 in stock, second dealer had two, third dealer had four, most of the dealers in the net had none,so go figure.

When I was searching for my SHO I had to drive 2.5 hours away to pick it up. I know its used but I never seen an SHO in my area new at the dealer or used. Oh and to the other guy, I think I'd rather fix the issue first before getting it tuned and having the warranty voided with a broken car already. I will have to try the other dealers and hope for the best.

Feel for you dude, important factor is to obtain that work order and see exactly what they performed and to make sure to keep it for your records.

Maybe you can have one of our IA members drive your car, see what they think?

The service reviews on dealerrater.com don't look promising

Normally, I would say try a Lincoln dealership, but they are so few and far-between nowadays.

OMG this website http://www.dealerrater.com/directory/Iowa/Ford/ has the dealer I went to at #27 and 1.5 start... WTF no wonder. I will take it to the Lincoln dealer that's close by, hopefully they can get it figured out. I picked the car up on my lunch brake and it drives fine with less hesitation but its STILL THERE. I tried to take a quick vid but its too dangerous as the car speeds up too quick for the 35 limit streets around here. Also on the video its hard to notice anything, will try again later.

Oh and if there is a IA member close by I am up for meeting up and letting you drive it. Just called the Lincoln dealer and have an appointment scheduled for Tuesday at 10am.

Well I just got done at the Lincoln dealer. The mechanic (older gentleman) drove it and agrees there is hesitation under WOT just like the other mechanic did. He thinks it could be a coil starting to fail that did not set off the CEL yet or possibly a leak somewhere. I have to bring the car back in next Monday so he can spend most of the day taking the engine bay apart to look for a leak/other issues. He said that he does not get many SHOs in at all but has worked on the MKS and is familiar with the engines but cant tell me for sure what the issue is and there is a possibility he might not be able to find anything. He will also drive the other SHO that they have on the lot (the only other in my area that i almost bought before this one) to compare. I explained that it just started but he thinks it could be all SHOs lol. I dont know whats gonna happen but will keep u updated. I hope this guy can figure it out and if not than i guess i will tune it and datalog for Torrie and see if he can figure it out.

Dropped the car off this morning (10am). Still no news, will update the thread once I hear something. Also over the weekend I noticed less hesitation with a full tank of gas but as it got down to around 3/4 it started more often. I advised the mechanic of this when I dropped it off.

And still no codes?  Hope they check out the fuel system, filter & all.

Yup still no codes. They still did not get back to me, kind of weird. I will call them in 20 minutes to see what's going on its been 5 hours.

Spoke to the shop guy and he said last he check the mechanic was going to check compression and something with the oxygen sensors. He will get back to me once he talks to the mechanic. Why would they be doing the compression test? I would think of the cylinder is bad it would have worse symptoms?

Agreed.  You'd probably have many more symptoms and codes on the way to low compression, or a catastrophic event.  Since we are tossing ideas in the wind, check the spark plug wells for dryness, maybe the start of an oil leak somewhere.  Check the COPs for correct operation, an "easy way" to do this:
Coil on plug quick test
