You want front and rear facing cameras.  Then you'll have to check the mounting.  I don't have front facing camera so I don't know if my mount would block it.

I wouldn't think the cameras are important for what the OP wants it for. the 2013 has better parts inside. faster memory and processor.

I can almost guarantee that is last years model. 2013 processor and screen is far better

Here's a couple pics with my current Droid phone rig. I'm using a $15.00 Scosche vent mount.

I killed my nexus at work when I dropped it on its face.  :doh:

I haven't replaced it yet because I haven't found it that cheap again.

The nexus worked perfect in this mount so just imagine a perfect 7"HD dispay vs the phone.
