Who's in SoCal OC area??

QuickSilver

They say a man has got to know his limitations and though I have no problem pulling/rebuilding head or an engine on one of my old Chrysler turbo cars, my Ecoboost platform is likely to be mostly checkbook tuning for me :-[ I mean I did install some ARH catted downpipes myself but that's caveman stuff compared installing the new Meth kit from Unleashed that's been sitting in the box mocking me for weeks.  I don't know if its really beyond my skillset but I have never liked electronics (lemme port a head any day :)) ) and I sure would like some help with the install, just need someone experienced to take the lead. Lunch or dinner as well as plenty of refreshing beverages are on me and I'll compensate you for your time as well.  I'm in Mission Viejo but if you'd rather do it at your place I'll travel a bit.

PM or reply here is great, Quicksilver is paid off now  and I'm ready to take it to the next level.  Thanks  AJ

Unrelated response, but are your downpipes smog legal? I havent considered because I have no intentions on changing exhaust systems every couple years for smog check.

As for the meth install, I would like to watch and learn that myself. Considering it like you after all is paid for and warranty is done.

Nothing before the cat is smog legal in Cali unless it is an "authorized replacement" convertor. I have  like 8-10 cars that have a bolt in/bolt out universal (I use the same one for each car) cat, the shop I used for years recently starting cross referencing the part number on the cat hence I don't use them anymore. it is MUCH easier to find a shop that is lenient on the visual as long as the sniffer is as clean as stock values than it is to pass a 'dirty' car.  However, I don't expect my first smog on the Explorer Sport to involve any shenanigans other than making sure everything underhood looks factory.

I can let you know if I find someone who can school us on the Meth kit install. I have a pretty good set up at home for wrenching and a shop where I store old cars that has a lift if we would need that. Seems improbable that we need it in the air for this though. Thanks for the slightly lateral reply tho Xclent 8)

Curious if you ever did your meth install? Show it off. I am still on the fence as you were because I haven't seen a system on any car.

Install videos look simple enough but I think I am most intimidated by the bumper removal. And read somewhere of someone switching the low level switches to work properly.

HELP ME HELP YOU HELP US! Buddy Ole pal. Lol

Sorry Dx, for whatever reason, this forum doesn't flag threads I've posted in(or maybe I don't see it??) so I didn't see your question from May til just now.  Grampa used to say, "Excuses are like ***holes, everybody has one" ;D  I've been remodeling my new to me 90's house, been building 3-4 project cars, busy at work, blahblahblah, all great excuses, but no, the meth kit is still in the original box mocking me whenever I look at it :(

No worries.

Procrastination is the mother of laziness. Or something like that. I have that same problem.

But when and if you do the meth install I would like to assist to see how it all comes together. Although, for now at least I have talked myself out of meth install.

I am in Lake Forest right down the street from you.

I ran a race shop for a few years and do all of my own work.

PM me your #.
