WiFi and routers

Did not get to play around with it last night. Had went to best buy to pick up my tv consol. Th6u was a fail. Ups had broken the second stand.

But anyways. Last night I could not get above 70Mbps. Looks like I will just go with a completely different model

I am using TP-Link's ac1200 router, working ok for me so far, easy to set up too.  Got it off amazon warehouse deals for $60 some time ago.

The antennas are removable on the Asus router, right?  Maybe you should put aftermarket high gain antennas on there instead :D

Routers will also throttle to the slowest device connected, if you run dual band put the slow stuff on one band and the fast stuff on the other. I.E. a nintindo DS is wireless g not n I believe. Something like that can cause your speeds to be off. You may be able to run a wired connection through something like...

"The PowerLine HD Ethernet Adapter Starter Kit (DHP-303) allows the user to take advantage of existing home electrical wiring to create or extend a network by turning "every power outlet in the home into a wall-to-wall network for connecting" when connected to a switch or wireless access point. (The kit includes two wall plugs/adapters.)"

My basic set up
Wired
Xbox 360
Xbox one
Desktop computer
Maybe a blue ray player

2.4 wireless
Laptop
2 cell phones
Printer

5g wireless
Xbox one
Samsung smart tv
And sometimes my cell phone

Well its part of my cable and phone bill and internet. Its 220 month right now. But I just got that speed today. They just bumped there speed for my tier from 105 to 150Mbps. However Comcast usually over delivers on my speed.

Is it a all in one router modem?  What commercial grade brand equipment do they use. Since the residential stuff basically is capped at 1 gig.

There was a news report on tv last night about internet speed and if your getting what you say for. Seemed to me most people expect there older wireless router to give them full speed all the way across there home. Just doesn't work that way. Now finally with the current AC spec I feel like wireless is not such a horrible second option.

Comcast stock WiFi sucks. It always forced me to the 2.4 band and I think there is some sort of hidden Qos program because if I used there built in router it was only giving me 20 something mbps.  Versus the 50 to 60 I get with aftermarket routers on that band

Not wireless of course...

Commercial account?    Could not imagine that speed. With my current speed a one gigabyte file downloads under 2minute.

New residential Xfinity Gigabit Pro service. Most resi networks only support GigE so you would need to upgrade the network to support 10Gb. The Netgear Nighthawk does a great job of servicing the home (and half the neighborhood).

I hate Comcast.

I miss my Fios up north. I had 85 down and up (fiber) with server pings around 12. I'm now at 50+ in Florida with a 120 down 20 up.

My other option is century link formally Qwest. And I think there speed is 10Mbps.  No Verizon fiber or any fiber to my area yet.

I know there is a lot of hate for Comcast but I have never had a major problem with them. A quick phone call has fixed 99 percent of my problems.  Just hope they abandon there download limits they are testing in other places. I will have a problem if I get put on that crap
