Wtf Did I do to my sho? New exhaust makes my car sound like a rice burner

As several guys have mentioned the corsa system does have a break in period. Are you tuned? Cause I know with my DP's and corsa system is very loud under stock tune.

I have the Corsa 14315 sport cat back exhaust,as mentioned earlier there is a break in period which consists of 200-500 miles and will notice a change in sound, also make sure those band clamps are re-torqued after a couple of weeks, cause mine were fairly loose and could contribute to the rattle, are you tuned for the DP? the tune alone will affect the sound. Z

I have the LMS 3bar 93 octane V8 tune. I downloaded the new tune files onto the tuner using the updater software. When I tried to load the cat delete on the car, it says "The only available tune files are" then "Updates required to load tune file".

I tried connecting the tuner to my laptop and hit update tuner again. It said the tuner is up to date.

I just got the new tune files from LMS and am planning on loading them to see if it helps with the drone. I'm definitely not running a stock tune...

I loaded the updated tune files and I "think" that the rasp is better. I can't tell at the moment because I didn't get a whole a lot of drive time over lunch with the updated tune.

I'm hitting Late Model Throttle tomorrow to do a dyno run (as is) and probably take out the downpipe, go back to factory, then hit the dyno one more time.

Stay tuned. (pun intended)

I feel bad for you..tune will make not make a difference...maybe something non detectable due to vct changes ...if you weren't happy with the sound then you still won't be happy when you change downpipes and leave the aftermarket cat back on...the problem is the muffler choice...the down pipes just amplify the rest of the exhaust

Down pipes with stock cat back = louder but stock tone

Down pipes with aftermarket catback = louder goofy tone

Stock down pipe with aftermarket catback = goofy tone

People hear what they want because they want to...people claim exhaust note will change after break in...maybe the smallest amount but hardly any in my opinion....these arent glass packs with melted fiberglass

SHOCAR if you gripe is the rasp and not the "goofy tone" as mentioned my aj. Then I believe that the downpipes are to blame, I have heard the Corsa with PPE and LMS DP's and there is very little rasp if any and no drone. I plan on getting a set of catted PPE downpipes soon. But you are the one that has to live with the car, I personally think the Corsa cat-back has the best sound on the SHO out of anything that I have heard. At least the car has a voice, it will never sound like a thundering V8. If you want riceburner have a listen to this guy beside me. ;)

I know ajp -- I don't mind the tone when its "not raspy". Its not about sound volume... its the rasp that drives me absolutely crazy.

The plan at the moment is to rip off the downpipes and put the factory cats back on. I am going to see the horsepower / Torque change between having the cats on and not. From there I'll know whether the DPs are worth the noise or not.

I think the catless DP not only emit a strong odor, but do a great job providing the rasp due to it being hollow inside with no cats, this is based on my setup wich clearly does not sound like the video provided by the OP. Z

I was throwing some ideas around with my tuner and a TSR at Corsa and they both agree that I should install a race muffler or cats to reduce the rasp on the car to keep the high flow of the catless downpipes. We are looking at this part to install somewhere after the flex pipes http://m.summitracing.com/parts/mpe-11386

Thoughts? I'm going to give it a try as its only like 150.00

I have the unleashed catless DP, LMS 4+ tune, K&N CAI, NGK plugs and original exhaust and I like the whoosh sound my car makes. I think if you want that throaty sound you have to have a V8 naturally aspirated engine. Gotta embrace the twin turbo sound! The performance is unbelievable and with EBC slotted and drilled rotors and performance pads its like own SHO 2.0. Loving it!

VERY similar setup here - just missing the CAI and I gotta agree. Its a twin-turbo not a V8 so you are NOT going to get that sweet V8 burble. The DP's add a bit of growl and lots of umpfh....

Your car sounded like mine until I took off the cat back and if you add back the stock cat back you won't have an odor from your catless down pipes because you will have the stock 3rd cat in place

Always telling me things I don't want to hear... but its probably true. I figure i'm already 2200 deep on this BS, I might as well spend another 100 to see what it sounds like... if not I'm keeping the DPs and throwing the factory exhaust back on.
