2010 SHO. Detonation... maybe

Return trip with about a minute of idle time at end again. Only recorded last five minutes or so.

If I'm running stock settings on car, is it possible with the CAI and exhaust that its causing my issues also? If its possible it will help I'm not against getting a proper tune for it from Livernois.

Checked piping and heat shields. Everything looks in order. Turbos were very clean. No oil externally and with how the intake MAP looked I'm not thinking a turbo is leaking.

So now, possibly, we can look at a stuck/sticking wastegate, and/or coked intake valves as possible culprits.  Maybe even the PCM.  On the Edge, burnt coils and bad PCMs are known to happen, not so much on the SHO, but you never know.  Time to let the experts have a looksee, IMHO.  Could be too dangerous to the engine to press your luck right now, what with getting KR values > 3 with < 30% throttle.

Service advisor at dealer seemed better this time. I hope they don't blame the exhaust and intake for the issues. If they sold the car with it in there still they must of felt it wasn't to much of an issue.
Thanks for all the help and patience SHOdded.

Just got back from my road test with the SA. He's feels a stretched timing chain is the cause. Plausible as if it was rattling it would trip the sensors and cause the car to misbehave.
I'm not sure he's right but I'll trust his experience.
Will update when car is back next week.

Timing chain replacement is a HUGE job on these engines.
The manual says to drop the engine and trans to get access.
In the online Chilton manual there is 128 steps just to get to the point of removing the chain.

Since the logs show issues throughout the rev range, this could be a possibility.  All of a sudden, hearing about timing chain issues.  Hmmm.

Similiar to the timing chain the waterpump is not an easy task to perform in our vehicles and basically the same process unfortunetly, correct me if i am wrong.

Yes, the timing chain drives the water pump.
Water pump is in the middle of the chain V

Depending what year your vehicle is,and if you have warranty or not does in it make sense to also change the waterpump if your in the same area considering the waterpump&gasket are fairly cheap, kill two birds with one stone, considering Raging penguins situation.

In your opinion SHOdded is it a solid possibility?
Since timing chains control valve timing & ignition timing, and we have eliminated some of the other common possibilities, yes.

Well. It's been three weeks. Still don't have my car back. So far they've replaced the O2 sensor and a knock sensor. Hasn't got any better. So they are apparently waiting for the Ford hotline to get back to them.
Now call me suspicious but three weeks to do two sensors, one of which I can do in my drive way in minutes seems as if I'm getting the run around.
I feel they maybe trying to run my warranty out and then all of a sudden discovering the needed repair.
What's my best course of action at this point? Im thinking its time to call into Ford Canada and make some noise.

I thought they were going to do the timing chain?  I would stress upon them the importance to check that possibility at once.  Then Ford Canada, or even Lincoln.

Well, that's what's got me, service manager figured a timing chain. Service advisor keeps throwing parts at it. To me they are genuinely wasting my time even after several calls express my concern with how long this is taking.
I've mentioned it to them several times  but seems to fall on deaf ears. They've more or less brushed off any suggestions I've had.

Talk to the service manager again, remind of timing chain possibility?  Dealership owner maybe?  No response - take it up the chain.  If Ford Canada is not responsive, go to Lincoln.  They are wellknown for being helpful.

If I'm right and Monday they call back with yet another sensor/small repair and "it will be a week for this part" the call will be going into Ford Canada.

What I'm unsure of is if it's the warranty program screwing me around or the dealer.
