Blown engine-Replaced

Found the part number, but no real description. In fact the same part number has 4 listings under engine assembly depending on oil cooler/towing or not.

Would the long block come with new water pump/timing chain design- already installed? Or is that sourced from the original?

Thanks in advance

I think that Ford offers this motor in the following ways...

1. short block - bottom end only. block, crank, rods, pistons
2. long block - short block plus heads, timing chain, camshafts
3. complete assembly - everything included

I do not think that the water pump, oil pan, valve covers, etc are included until you step up to the complete assembly.

Your local parts department at a Ford dealer may be able to tell you more, but I think that is the basics.

I just confirmed with Ford and the whole engine assembly which is Part # DG1Z6006A can be had for nearly 6.500.00 with all parts needed and the part is 2 Days out.  Part Description: 3.5L Dual Over Head Cam T/C V6 Gas ; SHO Package 1; Gaskets And Additional Parts Must Be Purchased Separately, Includes Oil Pan, Valve Covers, Front Cover & Water Pump.  Z      http://www.fordparts.com/Commerce/PartDetail.aspx?n=JfBYT2Kj2LUpv3vNzQFYwQ%3d%3d&id=390313021&m=44&search=true&year=2013&make=Ford&model=Taurus

Thanks guys. I thought that the LB would not include the water pump and such. I want that replaced while this is going on, so I need to call my service guy and confirm all this.
ZSHO, thanks for the link. I did see that one and will ask him about it.

Well,  went back to dealer to discuss a few other things. New block comes with water pump and plugs and more than I thought. Not as much coming from mine and they will even accept mine as a core even though it's worthless. I was ready to take my parts and just scrap it out myself.
Decided to have them do it . Also getting a bit of help $$ wise from my company if I went to the dealer (I think cause of the better warranty).
After I said go for it, I asked about a loaner that he offered me. He came back and said got a transit van. Said figured coming from Flex, need the room. Said you probably don't want a 2wd truck, I said sure, I got a suburban to haul kids around in. So he brought around the tuck , turned out to be a 2016 F150 super cab EcoBoost with 170 miles on it. I guess that will do for the two ish weeks Flex is in for repair. All I gotta pay is the gas I use and return full. Wife said they gave me a new one since I'm dropping so much cash into service.

Firewater88 Great to hear the Good news and best of luck and keep us updated on all fronts.  Z  :)

To the OP, I hate to hear about your misfortune.  Keep us updated.  I was/am in a very similar situation as you.  I lost compression on cylinder #6.  Finally made the choice to buy a used engine on eBay and send it to Livernois.  Let me know your experience with your Ford dealership.  I will be having my Ford dealership perform the engine swap once I get the engine back from Livernois.

Just curious how much this endeavor will end up costing?

I am curious as well  :-\  At this point, I'm unsure as the engine just arrived at Livernois today.  The used engine I purchased from eBay was a core with 92k miles on it and.....wouldn't you know it.....had low compression on one cylinder.  I paid $500 for it and had it shipped directly to Livernois.  Hopefully a set of rings and bearings will take care of it, but if not, my wife may divorce me....

Got Flex back today form the dealer. New long block and turbos installed. Turn around time was about 5 days. I also now have $500 in service credits from the huge repair bill.
Did notice that they left the VTA mod and did not complain about the CAI installed either. Under warranty for 3 years. I guess I will keep the mod list low until that time is over. Not sure if I want to keep my tune and tuner for the time being or sell it.
Glad I am back in the Flex, I really missed the ride.

Glad to hear everything worked accordingly without a hitch with a quick turn around and definitely post some pic's of that long block beauty, best of luck to ya and try to keep her stock IMHO especially with all the money spent, don't think its worth all the extra hassle especially with a 3 year warranty.  Z  :)

Did the long block come with new turbos?

What was your total bill?

Long block did NOT include turbos, but I had them replaced while they were in there. The long block did come with new water pump and timing chain (new design), so just the top end of the mine was transferred over.
I had the trans flushed while it was in as well and I had not had it done yet. It was time.
Total bill was $10,400. With that bill, I now have over $500 in service credits.
