Clicking noise when moving steering wheel back and forth

For the other member goodluck mon, first thing no doubt its a warranty issue, then try very imprtant try to have them due both sides, cause you dont want to go through the hassle again if the other side goes bad down the road,i personally think its the wheel hub assembly, but my last visit to the dealer for the same issue, they stated and printed a copy of the part tht needs to to be specially ordered is the washer for the cv joint,i guess for them its cheaper and less labor than doing the wheel hub assembly, also want to make sure they do a wheel alignment.

^^ +1, also have them duplicate the noise on the lift as noted earlier. If they can duplicate the noise on the lift it's easier for them to justify the cost to replace the hubs.

Just for completeness you might have them look at the EPS unit... While more of a clunk than click, several folks have had broken teeth, etc there.

That's the hub.  I had both the TSB washers replaced and that did fix that noise.  The washer noise is more when accelerating and turning.

I then had the exact noise you have on the right hub.  They replaced my right hub under warranty.  I tried talking them into doing the left side, but they wouldn't go for or until it makes noise.

They changed the right hub and the noise was gone.

I agree with JMR76 it is certainly the wheel hub issue but best of my knowledge this is pertaining to the 2013 sho,not earlier models so basically its a new common issue that has to be resolved,i wonder if the 2014 was affected or hopefully they corrected this issue, and also what the update was,I also see that the majority affected are the 2013 PP SHO.

Correct it's a 2013 + PP and police pack cars only. They use hubs with part number HUB200. These are the hubs affected. Non pp and pre 2013 do not seem to be affected.

Is there a TSB?  Do the new parts correct problem or will it happen again?

No TSB as far as I know, it's a toss up, mine seem to be ok still. But I have been through 2 sets of hubs. If mine go again I will try to force the Timken hubs on the dealer. If not I may just do it myself. Good luck!

I have the same noise as well... Looks like I'll be telling the dealership when I bring her in for the oil change.

Once you know it's there, it annoys the sh$t out of you!  Almost losing sleep over it! lol.  Especially when driving through a parking garage with the window down, which is twice a day for me (going and leaving work).

I'll let you know how my visit goes tomorrow night.

The dealer is working on a fix.  They are doing the washer TSB,  parts over nighted.  From the posts in this thread, sounds like the noise will continue and hubs will need to be replaced next.

Anyone else get stressed out when their car is at the dealer for service?  I imagine greasy hands all over her and scratches and dings.  I hope the SHO gets extra special attention.

They got Ford to give me a free rental overnight,  props to the dealer.  Got a new Ram HEMI with 300 miles,  kind of fun.  Smoked my wife in her 2007 Durango HEMI. Lol.

At least they acknowledge the noise isn't normal and are trying to fix it.

Haven't had a RWD vehicle in a while.  Was fun to do a burnout for my 3 year old on a 300 mile old truck with 390HP! :D  Exhaust sounds good too.  Definitely see why trucks are so popular, drives great and love the high seating position.  Too bad they get poor MPG and all that wasted space in the rear 99% of the time.

Had my car at the dealer afew times, they treated it with TLC,maybe cause i purchased it new there and gave me a nice free car wash at the end.

They did similar to mine, but I haven't had any issues with scratches or dings. It many not fix the issue. It didn't on mine, and I checked it in the parking lot before I left the dealer.

I have the same issue however my dealer referenced a tsb to replace the halfshaft. Taking a few weeks just to get the parts so we will see if it does anything.

What is your ride and what year?  Do you have a TSB number/date you can share?.... TIA

Dealer called with an update.  Washer TSB did not solve noise, as we knew.  I pointed them to this thread and they ordered hubs.  Should get them tomorrow.  Get the Ram for another day, got a trip to the dump scheduled tomorrow morning! :)

Props to Phil Long in COS for keeping on the issue and getting this fixed for me.  More updates once I get them.

magnum: Do you have a 2013 Performance Package?  Seems to only affect cars with the PP.
