Finally made it the strip

Went to Rock Falls, WI (About a 2 hour drive from me but it's the closest track) with my 18 year old son.  The trip was his birthday present so I let him do most of the runs during the day. DA was about 1850 ft. although the temps were only in the mid 70's.  Ran the car right after we got it there and got my personal best of 12.89.  Ignore my reaction time...it's embarrassingly slow but it was my first time.  At this track it seems like you can launch when the last yellow/amber light actually comes on not off LOL.  Track prep was apparently pretty bad as everyone was complaining about 2.0+ 60 ft. times.

Raced a Challenger that was trailered in and it only went 13.3...beat a 6.0 GTO (Beautiful car...).  Best he did all day was a 13.1 but most of his runs were more like 13.5 due to traction.  Several new mustang GTs were there (well not the 2015s...) and they were all running low 13's.

The GT 500 and a Z06 vette were both running in the 11's (gotta love that supercharger whine!  I miss it from my GTP)

I did line up against a full on race fox body Mustang that ran a 10.2...that was actually fun to watch!

My son had a blast and ran a best of 13.01...he wanted a 12.xx so badly but he just couldn't get the launch figured out right and consistently got 2.x 60' times. We lowered pressures, raised pressures, had him vary his launch RPM but no dice.  I think I got him officially hooked though.  He did "destroy" (his words) a 335i quite easily.  Will post a slip next!!

Got a lot of compliments and a couple of "what the heck are you driving" comments (it's debadged).

Awesome!!! Your son is a lucky kid and must be a good one to have the trust of his dad to take the SHO up to those high speeds. My 10 year old is really getting into the cars since we've gotten the SHO and hope it's something that sticks with him to add another passion we can share. Congrats on the new PB!

Great times!!!  Happy birthday to your son, great initiation :thumb:  We should all grow up learning to enjoy cars and driving.

Congrats to you and your son, mine is 16 and hopefully i can follow on your footsteps and wish you guys the best.

Good times, Ecoboostsho!  Also, thanks for tipping me off to Rock Falls.  I have been thinking about taking my MKS to the track but, being in the Twin Cities, there is no place very close.  I hadn't thought about Rock Falls.

Very nice!

What tune/octane are you running?
93 octane lms 4x with a 3 bar map. Interestingly I had to put 3 gallons of 91 octane in it to make it back to MN where I could get 93 Octane again. During that time my learned octane gauge in Torque went to "106.6"...which made no sense so I definitely don't think that gauge is figured out.

Thanks for the responses!

I should have let you know I was going...I don't get the opportunity very often but it was a lot of fun.

I've got a video of the 12.8 run I will try and post.

Way to go.  Yeah after  year of running at the local track,  I'm still getting the "that's a Taurus" or the one my wife likes, "WOW that thing is fast."  Lately been having crappy 0-60 times here too.  Glad you son loves the SHO too.
