First dyno for the sleeper sedan

A fun story (with picture and logs) to break the quarantine monotony...

I found a shop that only lets one client in at a time and he is the only other person in the shop.  So how could I NOT dyno it?  I really needed something to do, I need to get out of the house!

A quick forward, my mod list below is what I was running for the dyno, although I would like to point out that this is the "safe e30" tune and Matt is working on a "track" tune.  I just couldn't wait to see what the numbers were showing and like I said, this seemed like a great idea to get out of the house, and see how it stacked up.

Here are the results:

1 - 397/448
2 - 369/445
3 - 352/447

Now one other thing to note, I would like everyone to know that I insisted on a pull in 3rd gear, even though he wanted to do them all in 4th.  The first one is in 3rd, the other two are in 4th, he was surprised to see he was getting to 160MPH for the 4th gear pulls and I remembered someone saying that you could hit that in 4th, so it was better to do the pulls in 3rd, so I'm wondering if that limited the last two pulls more than the heat soak did.  Although, there is a pretty good amount of heat soak in the pulls, but if you are hitting a limiter then from what I understand it limits it.  ;D

Also, has anyone with similar mods ran down the track?  Just wondering ballpark numbers, if you missed my intro, I have a 2018 Audi S5 to beat!

With the numbers as seen,  I'd wager with a decent launch (1500-1800) 12.3# - 12.4# should be a ''all night long number''  .. first few runs should be 12.2 with a good launch and good 60"

Thanks, that's what I was hoping for, I'm wondering how much more hp/tq I will pick up with the track tune too.

It would be super great if the GH IC was in stock soon as well, plenty of time right now to get that installed too, maybe get me into the 11's with a little help from all of the other variables!

When I had almost exact same mods my best track run was a 12.224, but that was in 50 degree weather and I think the DA was about 400.

I have always done my dynos pulls in 4th gear.  Next time I may have it run in 5th just to see what happens.

1:1 is actually 5th gear in our transmissions.....

Ha, I never did anything but fourth because I am not trying to go 150+ mph on the dyno!

The gear closest to the 1:1 ratio which on the SHO I believe is 3rd gear pulls based on AWD Dyno IIRC! Correct me if I'm wrong. Z

He said he had a car going over 200+ on it.  No thanks!

almost the same mods as you with AJP E30 on stock hpfp and stock IC I put 415hp and 470 tq on a mustang dyno and the car run 12.5 with 3500 DA at 70 * you can adjust about .1 per 1000' of DA
