First time at the track with the MKS

Took my MKS to Great Lakes Dragaway in Union Grove WI tonight to get some data logs for my tune.  I have a 3 bar MAP sensor and a 93 Unleashed tune.
It was hot and humid tonight!

Best run: 13.5 @ 102

Nice run :thumb:  Brake boost?

Current data:
temperature = 70.0 deg f
relative humidity = 96 % <=================
uncorrected barometer* = 29.31 Hg
corrected barometer* = 30.07 Hg
density altitude = 2186.45 ft

That sucks!

Thanks!  Yeah...the DA was awful last night, was low/mid 2000's all night so definitely not best for drag racing.

I was brake boosting, with my best launches coming around 2,300 RPM.  If I went much higher than that the brakes couldn't hold back the car and it would creep over the line.

How many revisions into your tune?  Usually 2K is the brake launch optimum for a tuned SHO/MKS, 2300 sounds more like a stock launch zone.

There is more in it for sure.  I look forward to seeing what it does with a tune revision.    I would really hope it doesn't take much trial and error to get you into the 12.7 range but, in all honesty, that is a long way from 13.5.  While 2000+ DA is not optimal, it is certainly not terrible and is pretty much normal for a Midwestern summer.

I know what you mean about the brakes not holding the car.  I have that issue if I try to go over 2000 RPM.  Of course, my front brakes are well worn and glazed.  A few dozen times of going from triple digits at the end of the quarter down to 20 MPH for the turn-around will do that on the stock brakes.

I almost headed up there last night but decided not to because of the heat.  It sucks that whenever I have time to go to the track the weather does not c0operate.

Definitely hoping to get some high 12's.  I plan on going back once I load the revised tune, so we'll see.

Definitely time for me to throw some better pads on.

Next time I'll post on here when I'm going to head up.  I went up with a bunch of the local Mustang guys, and other than the 15 Mustangs there was probably only 10 or so other cars racing.

Congrats, how many revisions do you have so far?

Each one will get better and better.

Don't worry about temps and such until you are closer to being dialed in, there are only so many cool days in the season to cut the best times.

Thanks!  No revisions so far...this was the base tune.

Oh man are you in for some fun trips. They will get progressively better in pretty decent steps. Most tuners start out quite conservative until they start to know how your car runs. Don't stop sending data and asking for revs until the tuner says they feel it is as far as they can go with it. Some get it done in 5 revs, some have taken up-to 30.

Hoping mine doesn't take 30...LOL.  Having 3 kids 6 and under doesn't let me get to the drag strip often!

Yeah, if you can find a safe back road, and there are plenty "i know the area" then you will get finished much faster. Mine where about 8 revisions. His first tune is super conservative, I have the logs from each tune and from the first to the last is night and day! Good luck!

I'm in Mount Prospect (about 15 minutes NW of O'Hare airport), its ultra urban.  I have to drive almost to Wisconsin to find "back roads" LOL.

I'm surprised it wasn't worse?? I was going to come down to test out my new tunes, but decided to pull the plug at last minute... I figured it would have been in mid 3000's

Ryan great run....also been itching to try out my new tunes but unfortunately due to a family matter need to push it for late summer.  Z  :(  But no worries you will be Golden after a few revisions.  Z  ;)

Psssh, just launch from the toll booth for 294 north off golf later in the evening.  I'm in Mount Prospect too.

Lol...not a bad idea at all actually.    Might have to give that a try!

I'll definitely give you a heads up next time I head up to GLD....

Also...my brother in law just picked up a 2014 SHO and he's also in MP.  Lots of ecoboosts in town!
