GIOVANNA BARBADOS?

Definitely don't like the Barbados.  I love WTW wheels in general, but I think this one is a mess.

Basic questions, are you going 20 or 22, and are you staggering (hope so, looks ba)

It's not very good but hopefully, you'll get the idea.

thanks DJE, but remember these would be 22's.  they look smaller in your rendering.  i did some photoshopping and came up with this...

pub

the design is still the same, but the size makes a difference IMO.

depends...

I'm not sure and still deciding between 20's or 22's.  i don't think i'm going staggered due to possible mechanical issues.

I would have to say that your rendition looks much better than mine.  ;D

With a 265/35-22, there is no mechanical issue.  You can use this size up front and in back, no problem.  A 22x9 front, and 22x10 rear would work perfectly.  Alternately, you could go 22x9 front and rear, and just use a lower offset rear.  The idea is to get that rear flank filled, because it is wider than the front.  If you are going 22", heavily consider options with forged barrels.  These will take a pothole hit better, and IF they are damaged they stand a better chance of being straightened than a cast option.

The Barbados is what would define as a full-face wheel.  Are you a fan of this style?  Like this?

Or on the deep end (but wow) the Fesler?

Ok that last one was just for fun.

some full-faced wheels look good to me (like the first two in your post), but they usually are more aggressive than what i tend to go for.  again, its a possible very good deal i can take advantage of concerning the Barbados.

are you sure theres no possible problems with an AWD car and a staggered set-up?  i've seen warnings about doing that...

Lanson... if I stayed with 20's  (not in the Barbados!) do you think the 265 width will allow clearances?  I like the idea of an inch more ground contact with enough sidewall to preserve ride with maybe a 35-40 width to maintain the rolling diameter and sidewall pretty constant without spacers? TIA

BTW, I'm personally influenced regarding these wheels previously 40 years ago! The problem with the Barbados for me is that they look almost exactly like the wheel covers I had on a 1969 Toyota Crown in high school, which I changed quickly then 'cuz I didn't like them (Like the SHO it was a sleeper... had the Celica drive train in a sedan.

I believe BPD Mike runs a staggered setup with no issues.  I'd check with him.

Yeah, he's been running it for like over a year now. No problems. There is a thread with what wheel and tire sizes he uses.

I wouldn't try to run this wheel in 20".  Actually, I don't think I'd run this wheel at all.  It reminds me of... forgive me for this... gangsta rap bling.  It is also a very, very heavy wheel.  I see them on Bentleys and Rollers, but if I had a B or Rolls I would have a 3 piece custom full-face wheel fabbed up for it, and stay with a cleaner design.  Aside from the MRR's I should you (which also fit in 20" just fine), I would go with a Japanese VIP, or Rotiform forged if I wanted a nice full-face wheel.

Now, regarding fit on any 20" wheel, I would say a 245/45-20 front and 275/40-20 rear is the ticket.  That size is a 100% perfect match in circumference.  If going 22's, there is no safe match that is close which is why I suggested the 265/35-22 all the way around.

Visually, I don't think the SHO has the look to pull off a full-face wheel exceptionally.  I see concave spokes, 5 stars, and mesh wheels visually working with the car.  Heavy, lumbering cars with a "low and slow" attitude befit the full-face wheel better, I think.  In the WTW lineup, I am crushing over the Dramadio RL lately.

which wheel is very heavy and reminds you of 'gangsta rap'???

if you're talking about the Barbados, Giovanna claims they are 'light weight construction'.  they also are not available in 20 inches...

Yes they have a "Featherweight" class, but basically it is just a name.  Not that the wheel is bad being "Featherweight".

So I emailed you some wheel ideas, any pique your interest by chance?

Lanson, DRII...
yea, as stated I don't like the Barbados (personal opinion), my question was on the tires which Lanson addressed, and the gist of it was can I go to 275 width, use the factory wheels, and keep the profile so that rolling diameter is within 5-10% of stock and still have tire clearance at extremes of steering and suspension travel.

Thanks guys, I do appreciate the help!  Why I love this forum.

I do like a lot of black, but don't want to murder it or go gangsta'. I actually like the "flower" wheels with a black ride.  Just want a little wider stance and more road contact in a tire that will last on a DD.

Even going 265 on stock wheels is questionable. I would stick to 255 with an 8" wide wheel.

I think the Foose ones would be good then, they are wider so they'll handle the 275 nicely.  Looks the same as the flower PP wheel, may be lighter though (not sure)
