Improving/increasing Turbo sound

Sorry for pulling up a slightly old thread but I'm going to remove the turbonators and the ecoboost "diaper" on my F150 this weekend and see how I like it.

What diaper?

On the F150 there is an insulated panel under That sits where the turbos are, which also covers up the oil train plug.  I've seen this coined as "the diaper" on other forums.  It does not exist on any other engine combo on the F150 besides the Ecoboost.  I also have read that the manual states to remove this diaper if going off road.  It isn't an obvious aerodynamics piece and I believe it is only there to muffle the sound of the turbos.

This is what I did for the noise
Is that the BOV routed to Atmosphere in the first picture?

Interesting. About the diaper. Yes I removed the recirc hose off the turbo & filtered the intake. Both sides. Drivers & passengers. I also removed the whirly things out of the intake pipes last night. I do not hear any more turbo noise.

I don't hear any more turbo noise last night when I removed the swirl inducers, but I heard more intake noise. It is similar to the increased low frequency rumble I heard after swapping to a JLT intake on my 08 f150 5.4 3v. I only went on a 2 minute drove around my neighborhood so I will see what I think in the days to come.

I still have to remove the diaper today before the rain starts back up.

If you do take it off before I get outta bed, snap couple of pics & let me know how many bolts/screws/snap pins/whatever are needed to be taken off. Thanks!

There are 4 dzus fasteners from what I could see last night, but things were still wet so I didn't bother getting underneath. I will take pics for everyone.

You beat me to it. Had to run some errands with the wife and got back just as the rain started. Didn't get to drive it beyond just to park it. I will have comments on the noise level probably tomorrow

Looking at what it covers, it is the transmission, and catalytic converters. What I think it really does is prevent some of the sound from the turbos from bouncing off the pavement.

so forgot to tell this now funny story. I put the diaper back on. Next day drove to work. Then after work heard some rubbing notice. Looked under truck. It was on one screw. I guess I didn't tighten up them screws. Haha. It's now off. Loud. !
