LED Light Bar Behind the Grille

So I wanted to have a little more light when navigating these Minnesota back roads. There's nothing wrong with the high and low beams on the car but I just wanted something extra. I'm a Cummins Turbo Diesel guy turned Twin Turbo Ecoboost....I had THREE Vision-X LED Light bars on my truck...Two up front and one in rear for the occasional tailgater...oh and for backing up. They were all on switches....as this one is too.

I chose to go with GTR Lighting's 22" Tactical Hybrid LED Light Bar. Its a combination of Flood and Spot LEDS.

Am I the first one to do something like this? What does everyone think? It's pretty inconspicuous and it doesn't block air flow in anyway.

Excuse the car, it is a little dirty!

My Old Rig

Dang I'd take your old rig in a heart beat. Looks good on the SHO . nice and bright. Excellent choice of light bar.  Get some night time photos too please

Oh I miss my old rig...I don't miss filling it up for $120 every week though. One of my clients bought it off of me cash so I couldn't say no. I'll post some photos soon!

Very nice!  11K lumens is BRIGHT!  Is the light controlled manually?

It is bright! I mounted switches below the light control knob, where it starts to slant inward. One switch turns on the flood lights and the other turns on the spot...flip them at the same time and you get both.

Did you have to upgrade the battery, or are you able to run stock (separate fuses?)?  Looking forward to the pic too!

Sill on the stock battery, the wiring harness comes with the necessary fuses for the install. I'll try to get some tonight!

Love me some light bar action. Looks great.. just need a way to tie it into the auto high beams... now that would be amazing.

There's definitely a way to tie into it. I just prefer everything on switching, the auto wipers and auto brights still startle me sometimes haha

I kinda want to wire one in. I'd love to see how it does at night. Do you get a beam farther than the headlights? Or more on the sides.

I love the auto high beams cause where I live there are suicidal deer that flock to highways hah.

The Middle Spot light shoots out way further than the high and low beams, more of a harsher sharper light...the Flood lights on the ends are a much "softer" light that light up the shoulders and medians of the road better than the high and low beams.

That's one reason why I went with the Hybrid light bar...the vision-x ones I had on my truck were all spot lights...so if it wasn't in the middle of the road it was still hard to see.

Yeah I was wondering about that. With led's in such a shallow reflector it's hard to get the distance and flood. I'll have to look into one.

Definitely bright enough to light up the road.... any night pics? ...of the road ahead.

I'll try to remember to take some pictures next time I'm out in a rural Minnesota

That's sweet!! I bet it would work great behind the lower grille to I don't run a front plate so that would be out of the way.

Hey Debonair70- Do you have the active grille shutters?  If so how did you fit that light bar behind the grille but in front of the shutters?  Im looking at installing a similar setup (thanks to you), but im not sure about the shutter issue.  Thanks for any help!

SHO's are not equipped with grill shutters.
