I'm pretty sure that grumpy ol' Storm would bitch if he found a silver spoon....probably complain that it wasn't gold or platinum!  :blowup:

I still don't understand WTH Dave meant--but why would I be grumpy? I'm not grumpy, I'm fantastic, beautiful, absolutely amazing!

I'm so hurt that you would consider me to be grumpy.

Just teasing.  With you I have to get a chop in when I can.  I am only a lowly '12 owner.

Just FYI, you really should get us straight...Dave is the guy with the white car....I made the comment, and it's Mark (mjhpadi) and I was just joking, no offense was meant...and I have the red car.

I got you straight; don't worry. :)

Let's go scuba diving dude!

I love you too Mike.

If we ever meet, I hope I get handcuffed by you--at least I know I'll be in good hands.

Bwahahahahahah.....  :biggrin:

I don't quite know how to respond to that, other than to report that this comment, as well as all of the others that have followed since it, made me laugh so freak'n hard my side(s) hurt.

Too damn funny for sure.

Bunch of goofs we have here on EBPF, myself totally included in that.

Thanks guys for all of the nonsense, and fun humor that each of us tend to interject any on given thread, not just this one.

If you ain't 13; YOU AIN'T KEWEL!

Did you ever get the Map light situation figured out?
I put in my LEDs tonight and discovered that if you don't have an incandescent bulb in the middle, the point able map lights will stay on constantly with LEDs in them! Annoying...

geswek,

I've upgraded my puddle lights to LED and I am very happy with them if you want the vendor info.  they send you a full assy and you just send back your core.

YES! please PM it.

I was dreading taking mine apart.

Other then being time consuming, it's not that bad...and just for a hint....the puddle light itself from older Taurus will fit our mirrors.  My dealer gave me one that had taken out of a broken mirror, so I could do the modification...it was great to have the extra to practice, in case I messed it up.  Also When I took mine a part I used a Xact-o knife...it took a more time but worked.  Just have to be careful when taking the light apart and the rest is easy.

I need some help.

I ordered a new map light assembly for rear; mine was just messed up (no idea why).

So, I got it in, tested my LED's and they all lit up bright like they should. If you open doors, all three lights (outer map pointers and center light) come on. When you close door they go off--so they should. However, when I had all 3 sockets with LED's the center would go out but the map lights would stay on. If you fumbled with buttons, nothing.

The only way I got it to work was to put a normal incadescent bulb in the center; now they come on and off as they should and I can manually turn on map pointers from back with doors closed. This tells me resistance is a problem.

How do I figure out what type of resistor to add to wire? I don't know which wire I should use--the always on 12V or trigger wire?

Any guru's got any recommendations??

if you put a multimeter (set to ohms resistance) across the leads of one of the incandesant bulbs it shou ld give you a readout that is the resisitance of the normal bulb.  then multiply times 3, to get a ball bark of the resistor to simulate all 3, you can buy at radio shack or online.

an example i found on line:

Used the formula: R = V(squared)/Power.

I assumed normal car battery of 12V.

5W Bulb: R = 144/5 => 28.8 Ohms.
21W Bulb: R = 144/21 => 7 Ohms
