New wheels! Saving some weight!

that's amazing that you got a 295 wide tire to fit... with a 8.5 wide rim on top of that..
That's a feat on its own.
If the tire size is an issue why not try 295/35 series compared to a 40 ration.. The smaller diameter might be enough to fit inside the rear...
Now i am wondering if 305 wides are possible ..  :hmm:  .. with ha 10 inch wide rim of course.

no issues at all with the tire size.. only issue is with the choice of tires.. the GMAX seem a bit hummish (thats now a word!) on the road and def to soft in the sidewalls for what I would of liked..

How does the GMAX's do in normal day to day driving?  Like over rough streets/potholes/speedbreakers?  I would think that's where they excel?  Any snow or ice yet to test them on?

The tread pattern on the gmax is pretty aggressive. And considering how wide the 275 is, there's a huge contact patch with the road.
I have the 255/45/20 gmax installed and have not noticed the humming yet. May I still need to put some more miles on them.

Finally a wheel brand I've not heard of!  They look good.  Weight is also pretty good.

I have a theory, one that some road racers have fleshed out in practice, and some car manufacturers have figured out too.  I believe that sidewall "feel" changes with the wheel WIDTH, along with the tire's dimensions (ratio) and of course the tire itself.  I've learned over time that a wider wheel with the same tire will result in a more firm sidewall feel.  Porsche seems to have this same logic applied, too.  For instance, if you were rocking a 9.5" or 10" wide wheel on that 275, I bet it would feel less squirmy.  In a trapezoid shape, the shorter top is more stable.  So that's something to think about when doing wheels and tires.  I personally strive for the widest wheels that will fit, and then find the right tire for that.  This not only makes for a nice wide stance with a good looking flush fit, it also improves the handling.

Maybe something to consider next time you are making a wheel setup plan.  Just try for wide wheel first, and try to push that limit.  THEN try your tire and see what happens.
