Weirdest thing happened. Driving down the highway i was curious to see if i had any other codes on my pcm other than bank 2 threshold, so i plugged my scanner in the obd2 port and all of a sudden all of the lights on the dash came on, batt, tpms, abs, service trac control message displayed, all this weird ****. So i pulled over, turned the car off and now cant restart it. Wont even crank. When i put key forward to ign, all those lights illuminate again along with blinking antitheft light. Also,  my scanner now wint link to my car abd my mileage data on dash has been erased. Does anyone know what the hell could gave happened? Im scared

Did you remove the scanner, then try to restart?  Some OBD scanners will cause false issues.  May need to pull the neg battery cable for 30 min.

I have not attached a scanner mid-drive before, always at a stop.

30 min? No. I did for about 10 min. And yes, i unplugged then tried again. Nothing. Im getting it towed home now. I will try a full 30 min reset.

Could be a fault with the instrument cluster as well.  I believe it stores the PATS information, and if that is truly lost, that would explain the no-start condition.  Maybe it's just a fuse that blew.  I don't think the PCM is bricked ... yet.

Ive been reading about the steering angle sensor going bad? Would that cause a no start/crank? Or a sudden dash illumination freak out?

Did you try using a different key Fob to see if it starts?....battery could be low,try placing it in the tranceiver.  Z

I only have 1 fob. And the battery reads 12.3 volts. That should be enough to start the car, right?
Try putting the key fob inside the transceiver to see if it starts, the car battery sounds sufficient.

Glovebox on the far right hand side, just insert your fob inside the slot, mines located on the center armrest console and see if that works . Z

On the flex?  Im looking and see nothing to stick fob into

Sorry for the delay,1)try pressing the push button start(twice)to ignition mode and then move the shift selection gear throughout all the gears, park, drive ,reverse, etc and while in neutral try starting it to see if it starts, just so many things to consider like a neutral safety switch, brake pedal switch maybe or try checking the pcm fuse/relay and immobilizer fuse and keep us updated and also try getting a new key fob battery(2032).  Z

Its ok. And theres no push start. Its a 2011 flex. But i will try everything else you mentioned. So far ive tried jumping battery,  resetting battery/pcm for over an hour, checked all fuses and relays, and even tried jumping starter from batt with key in ign. It wont turn over. Just cranks and cranks. If nothing happens tonight, i will be bringing to ford tomorrow.  Will keep u posted.

Could always go the old fashioned way. Check to see if you have spark and fuel. find the schrader valve and see if there's any fuel pressure built up (not familiar with the vehicle to this point so correct me if i'm wrong) and pull coil and see if you are getting spark.

What kind of OBD?

Sounds like it may have caused an issue.

I'd turn on the lights and pull the battery cable.

Let it sit for a while and reconnect.

One night after a flash my center stack was completely dead.

I had to pull the fuse to reset it, maybe you can try that with the ECM.

More often than I think is acceptable I have had my HVAC have no functionality after a flash....I flash again and all is good....No idea if that's SCT or this ECU...I'd say about 1 in 20 flashes this happens to me

A cantech. Cheapy harbor freight scanner. What kind of problems could a scanner have caused?  And whats with turning lights on first before disconnecting battery??

So i found these  https://youtu.be/pJBMgrW7MQU https://youtu.be/-y9sTr3F-xY. So i tried regrounding battery and will proceed to check voltage at pcm tomorrow.

Full discharge.

In my experience the ECM seems to retain power for quite a while after battery pull.
