I will start to use Chevron just to piss you off! Lol! Jk-to be honest I started using Shell from convenience-it is on my way home from work!

Our engines have knock limiters and the computer can adjust the output of the engine to prevent fuel pre burn-with a higher octane fuel the computer lets the engine go with no limits! I was referring to my engine sounding louder from 87 to 93 octane and Iheartgroceries I know the difference in the sound of my engine despite what you might think my brother! It's all good!

There are many limits my friend....u could run 200 octane fuel and only so much timing will be added...the stock tune will only allow a maximum of 4 degrees to be added when the knock sensors see fit....even when tuned that won't change but the base timing is usually bumped up a little..you don't want to set the learned knock tables too high in case of component failure

Wonder what the weight difference is with all those nice cookies, is that why the non pp can hang in the 1/4...hmmm

Rich

Being able to hang with a faster car is kinda cool but if you lose by 2 car lengths you're still slower

Ok I should've been more clear with my statement-the Ecoboost engine was designed for 93 octane and there is a difference in power output with a higher grade fuel. I didn't mean the engine runs at no limits with 93-of course they'll always have limits!

I wouldn't say it was designed for 93 at all....In fact I'd say it was designed for 87....That's one of, if not the best benefit of direct injection....More compression, and boost and regular fuel or more compression and a lot more boost with premium lol....It was a game changer....Much more difficult for pre-ignition and detonation to occur since the fuel isn't introduced until just barely before combustion..There was a ford rep at the Pittsburgh auto show a few years back showing the SHO and at the time he said it was one of the few Turbo cars that didn't require premium fuel and he was correct....It's rare when you see a factory turbo car running 10.6:1 compression AND regular gas...Most factory turbo cars are lucky to be in the 9's if not 8's for compression...Thank direct injection for that. It's just kind of a shame of the inherent carbon problem on the valves.

Way off base-we will disagree on that one! Before I tuned my car I noticed a big difference going from 87 to 93 and I'm not completely crazy-yet!

I didn't say there is no difference when going from 87 to 93 but to say the car was designed for 93 is wrong....The difference in power you are feeling and have from switching fuels is owed to the use of knock sensors and engine management which isn't exclusive to ecoboost but the level of compression and boost on regular fuel is somewhat exclusive to direct injection, which the ecoboost has.

I understand exactly how the ecoboost engine works and you actually said 87 would perform better which is wrong! And I meant the ecoboost engine performs better with a higher grade fuel-if you feel better about 87 then there is nothing wrong with that. Read the owners manual about a higher grade fuel or better yet Google it

You should go back and read my post...I never said 87 will perform better....I said it was designed to be able to use 87. And I have a manual and it says premium is recommended for better performance....I can't run 87 in my car anymore or there would be so much knock retard it would be pointless if it would even handle it at all, I never really tried at the boost I run, especially considering I'm not using meth.

Hey Z, my PP is bigger and better than yours lol

The importance is to make sure she is running fat and rich which at the end produces more power and weight.

For sure...racing against "BAMSHO", he treed me pretty good and my 12.69 lost to his I think 12.84 by .03....probably my favorite run yet. Had to look at the slip to see who won.
