Random thoughts for the day

Thinking of letting SHO go in favor of Explorer Sport or Edge Sport.  Easier to get in/out, load luggage/groceries etc...  Any advice/thoughts on color-Platinum tri-color white or Ruby Red metallic?  Perhaps Bronze fire?

I'm a bit upset of the lack of responses,(inputs)to simple questions that i have posted recently on this forum, simply to just get an idea for comparison studies, maybe its better than having a six page of replies,oh well.  Z

I've had to replace the battery in my 2013 Explorer Limited and again in my 2014 Explorer Sport. Finally got a DieHard Platinum P2. Weighs a lot more, but I know ill never need to replace it

So, I do 0-60 runs with a stop watch on a flat area near my work called Gillette Flats.  It sits at 10,000' elevation.  My SHO does it in 5.5 secs almost every time.  Been testing out my stock 2011 F-250 XLT CC SB 3.73 FX4 with the 6.2L V8 this week.  It consistently does it in 12.5 secs.  Ordered a 5 Star tune for my truck (87 perf/tow) to help with the throttle response and when towing.  I don't expect it to help the performance much.

My old 2007 Dodge Durango 5.7 3.55 4wd did it in 13 seconds with a Diablosport 87 Tune.

Just thought some would find it interesting how much faster my SHO is than my trucks at this altitude :D

Interesting time research PM...

Not too surprising though.
When 10,000 ft elevation is compared to sea level the atmospheric pressure drops around 50%. So the absolute precombustion pressure in each cylinder is lower as is the absolute amount of available oxygen.  It is a testament to the ECM programming that the speeds stay as good as they do. My SHO in PHX gets 3.9-4.0.sec 0-60 ... At about 1300 ft elevation in cooler weather... I too have also noted slower acelleration when I get up in th mountains, like the flats near Sunrise at about 9500 ft. Likely the difference in the SHO is the turbos.

SHO back in the shop today for an alternator.

Car was happy after the new battery yesterday but after 30 mins of driving, noticed voltage starting to drop.

Started up this morning and within a minute of driving, voltage dropped into the 12's.

Took an immediate detour to my dealer to see my lovely Service Adviser....

Should have her back tomorrow, I grabbed a 4wd Eco Escape for the rental.

These things unfortunetly happen to the best of us FoMoCoSHO,do you think the 13-15 sho have the same alternator, best of luck and keep us updated,BTW three weeks and still waiting for a oem windshield with a national backorder with no eta.  Z
