Random thoughts for the day

I guess with old man winter around the corner was curious to know if the Motorcraft battery is maintenance free or if it requires adding water, this is directly from the manuel, hope this helps someone in NOT ADDING WATER  to your existing MC battery.  Z          Your vehicle is equipped with a Motorcraft® maintenance-free battery
which normally does not require additional water during its life of
service.
Note: If your battery has a cover or a shield, make sure it is reinstalled
after the battery has been cleaned or replaced.
For longer, trouble-free operation, keep the top of the battery clean and
dry. Also, make certain the battery cables are always tightly fastened to
the battery terminals.
If you see any corrosion on the battery or terminals, remove the cables
from the terminals and clean with a wire brush. You can neutralize the
acid with a solution of baking soda and water.
It is recommended that the negative battery cable terminal be
disconnected from the battery if you plan to store your vehicle for an
extended period of time.

Interesting.  Note the use of the word "normally" indicating there might be times when you might want to top it off.  With the correct electrolytes of course.  Are the caps easily removable?  If not, then definitely do not top up.

NOTE:  Replacement is a better idea in the long run if the battery is problematic.  Felt washers under the terminals and battery protector spray should be installed when the new battery is installed.

-MANU certainly agree and the caps are accessible friendly, just grab a small flat head screw driver and gently pry each corner of the caps section at a time, mine seemed pretty adequate compared to my original which needed about a large cup of distilled water before having to be replaced under warranty.  Z

I would not recommend adding water to the battery due to the fact that water freezes in cold temps, which kills the battery cells thereafter.

They are finally covering the 2009-10 Edge, after almost a year of arguing with them!  Great news, hopefully they will have replacement tanks at the ready this time instead of impounding the vehicles that fail inspection.

Luckily, my '07 passed inspection, but there are a lot of other owners who were not so lucky.  I copied over your link to the Edge forum, and that will give them some comfort knowing their voices have been heard :)  Yeah, salt trucks ...

I have always used Amsoil or Redline motor oil on my car,the past few oil changes switched over to Penzoil ultra and purchased two cases because of the lower sale price, recently had an appointment at the dealer and found a great on Penzoil platinum 5 quart jugs and ordered two,(link below)took five days to come,(out of stock)went to the dealer with the two 5 quart jugs and MC-fl500s oil filter to find out that 3 quarts were leftover from that one jug which was in the trunk, leading me to believe that the tech probably thought they were gallon jugs and put a total of 7 quarts all together, guess lesson learned if you do bring your own oil for the dealer to change MAKE SURE its a simple case of oil which has 6 EXACT quarts needed and makes life easier for everyone, lesson learned.  Z    http://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B00ELHNM3K?psc=1&redirect=true&ref_=oh_aui_detailpage_o00_s00    Luckily have my topsider oil extractor which does come in handy in sutuations like these.  Z  http://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B001445IZ8?psc=1&redirect=true&ref_=oh_aui_search_detailpage

Good you were able to rectify their error in short order.  Could've been really bad for seals!

Are these the oils you are using, Z?  Noack on Platinum doesn't seem as good as the Ultra?
