Splash Cover Repair

Hey Guys,
Some pictures of the fiberglass patches I made for the undercover. Unfortunately I just broke the repaired cover again last night. Try to avoid backing up over snow as the cover then acts like a big shovel and buckles.

I just had to fix mine tonight due to snow. The back two connectors let go and it was dragging. I got it to a friends heated shop and up on ramps. I lost the passenger side rear connector so that got a big zip tie and the drivers side was jacked up but I got it fixed and reattached. Fingers crossed it holds now.

The under cover is the larger of the two shields located under the oil filter,so technically you will need to remove that in order to gain access to oil filter & plug, 02 sensor..
The lower Deflector is in the front lower bumber area pictured below. Z

Is this on all years?  I bought my car used and its never had that cover hiding the oil filter, plug + O2 sensor.  Explains why this was puzzling to me lol

Whoa I am supposed to remove something to change the oil filter/drain the oil? We bought our 2013 brand new in November of 2012 and I do not think I have that cover. I can just grab my oil filter and take it off.

Thats a bit odd because Both my 13 SHO' S Had the cover underneath!
Sometimes the dealer forgets to install it after having it serviced and has happened too me on a couple occasions..

The XSPORT on the other hand Does NOT have a cover IIRC. Z

The best method is to open your hood and take a peep between the front engine and Fans, looking straight down to see if there is a cover or bear floor.

I would also avoid Auto car washes as they can pull it off to non existence.  Z

Yes I have the splash guard that attaches that covers that area (aux cooler, Alky pump and fog lights) but the bigger cover...never had.

If it wasn't for this post I never would have known I was supposed to have one.  Still learning about my SHO😏

That cover is made for aerodynamics and acts as a protective barrier against the elements while ultimately slowing you down @ the track. Z  ;D

I just had to look between the fans and front of the engine.  I thought the splash guard covered that area but you are correct I don't have the undercover shield and I can see the ground.  Ok ok I have reached full understanding now....hope that wasnt a timed event 😬

When you buy these cars used, it is frequent for splash shields, engine appearance covers, even hpfp covers and tb motor covers to go missing.  Most of the time not a big deal operationally, unless you are into the triple digit speeds often.

Me too...

Ours was brand new. I’m going to blame Ted Britt in Chantilly. The one time I had my oil changed there they didn’t put the dipstick back in all the way and I didn’t check until we drove almost 500 miles North and I was wondering why the car smelled like oil. Opened hood and oil was everywhere. I’m assuming they forgot to put bottom cover back on at this time as well. Is it worth it to order one, seeing as I’ve drive like 96k without it?
