Step one ?

Mike, I feel for you.  Why we moved to the Phx area.  When we lived in the mountains of eastern AZ we had several days every winter recording 25o below with 30-50 mph winds.
:cold:

you might wait on the CAI.

Seems there is no performance and possibley they even hurt performance. Supposedly the K&N Typhoon adds nice turbo noise, where as I guess the Airaide does noting positive ???

I just put a drop in K&N in mine. I'd like to add a K&N Typhoon intake for the added noice but not at the cost of hurting performance.

Same here.

step two?
lost again. Saved the two files to a folder on pc. Ran exe file. The installer created its own location to store itself on my pc. while running exe it said to plug tuner in, so I did. I don't know what just happened / where are my tunes / whats next. The only thing there instructions really highlight is saving those two files in the email to my pc. now what?

Ok - gotta run program (da) - looks like it loaded 3 tunes to the device, stock/tune 3/tune 4. I'm guessing the tune 3 is the stage 4? and tune 4 is the stage 4+?
Now to put it in the car. Do I start the same way I got the strategy codes, then scroll thru the mycal device to start the transfer?

Next - how hard are the plugs to replace?
Next - I still want to install the cai seems how I spent 250 on it. But the first thing it says to do is disconnect the battery. Does that mess up all the personal programming in the car?

I got up at 4 today and just sitting here waiting for it to get light. It's in the 20's out there so trying to get it all worked out first before I start. Maybe if I think about it enough it will do it w/out me

The last I heard, there is no 4+ for the 2013+.  What tunes did you ask for?  You might have Stage 3 and Stage 4 or 91 octane and 93 octane.

To load tunes, just plug MyCal in.  Don't hold buttons like you did for retrieving info.

I don't think disconnecting the battery messes up personal settings like it used to.  You might have to reset some.  When you disconnect battery take off the negative and there is a secondary line connected to the terminal with an eye hook.  Take that off too.

Maybe I'm misreading it, I received 91 & 93 tune from what your saying they are probably both stage four
I was sitting here and out of the blue livernois called to confirm I got the tunes and am good to go. So while I was talking withe them I asked a bunch of my lame questions, and they graciously answered them all. I'm feeling super confident now

Excellent!

Done - procrastinated until about 830 (just so cold after working outside all week) called the ford store and they said bring it in we will help. They let me pull it in the 80 deg shop and just start working on it, the tech's loaned me tools and when they got free they helped me hand in hand to install all / CAI, SPARK PLUGS, T-STAT AND CATBACKS / done by one. Now that's a huge favor. Went home slapped the 91 tune on and went for test run. All I know is it burns rubber, now I'm looking for someone to race. I only did about a 15 min run and been sleeping sense (long week and long day)
Thanks a bunch. I'll keep you all updated as I feel it out some more
Mike

Dang man, that's Great!  You really have a nice bunch of guys there.  I'm gonna have to visit my Ford Store more often.  Glad you are happy with the results!

Already itching to try the 4+ tune, i email livernois and asked if i will be ok seems how the pumps here say 92 min oct rating. the replie said probably be safer to stick with the 91 stage 4 , but the 4+ tunes do work much better. "work much better" that didnt help telling me that. Not sure exactly who responded to my email, I'll give them a call tomorrow. Also someone mentioned using octane booster, not sure i want to have to make sure i do that every time i get gas. Any thoughts?
mike

note: my wife is the one who gets to drive the car most of the time. She's like "what did you do to the car, it realy go's and shifs so nice".  Maybe i dont want to put in the 4+

Anthony probably emailed you.  There is only one octane booster that has gotten good reviews here and right now, I can't think of the name. Great that your wife likes it!

as I recall stage 3 on the 2013 is equivelant to stage 4 on the previous years ??? Probably a stage 3 91 or a stage 3 93.

I can't even remember what mine is I think I have the stage 3 93 in lol

If I connect the tuner to my computer will it show what tune it says ?

what's weird is I can run 89 and it runs the same ? I wonder if the colder temps outside keep it from detonating w/o the higher octane. I've only tried it in smalle amounts of fuel if I know I have a qucik / short highway trip to make.

IIRC, there is only two tunes for the 13-14.  91 octane and 93 octane.  They figured everyone was just using the top tune.  There are 7 different versions out there.  You could see whats on the MyCal by preparing to tune the car and see what choices you have.  I would never dare to use 89 octane (or even 91 with a 93 tune).  It might feel the same driving around and nailing it a little but if you wind up to high RPMs through the gears you could do major damage.

pretty sure I have the V793 in :) which I guess is the highest performing tune they have out now for my 13. I know it's not recommended but I can't tell any difference in using different fuels. Funny thing I don't give the car enough credit for being a lot faster than it feels because its so smooth. The car I mean. I still need to look at my OEM plugs....I get some hesitation but never any detonation. The V7 update seemed like the shift points were better but the car felt a tad less powerfull too. I wonder if it uses less timing ? I assume the amount of tiiming is the difference in the 91 and 93 tunes right ?

Yeah, with the V7/93 you are Most likely in the 12's.  That's fast.  And smooth.  LOL  They probably did have to back the tune down a bit.  Probably timing or maybe a little richer up higher.

How many people are running 92 octane in a 93 tune? Sounds like you can but if the risk is to high I guess I won't. Is there any options for me?

Octane booster? doesn't sound sure fire, I'm getting mix reviews on it

Meth injection? Don't now much about it rite now but sounds like an option to safely run 93 tune (spendy option though)

The pumps do say 92 min octane rating, so does that (min) mean might be closer to 93 octane?
I can find 92 oct ethinol free fuel throughout Oregon, wonder if that would work?

One last thing I was thinking, could livernois custom tune for me so I could get a 4+ style tune that would carry boost out but keep timing of 91 tune?
