So forgive the ignorance. I did some research and have a idea but need confirmation and a explanation.
It seems to me the AWD designation for my early model 2010 is not really AWD in the strictest sense, it seems that 'one wheel' in the front gets all the power until that power starts to overwhelm it, then more power is pushed back (up to 150hp as I read??) to a single rear tire.
at that point 1 front and 1 rear us under power under hard acceleration. is that a true assessment of this version of Haldex ?
Now onto the second part, I flipped off traction control and launched it 'hardish' (this is a NON pp model) on a rainy day because I have never launched it wet to see what it will do and learn the behavior of the vehicle.
I 'expected' the front to slip and spin, then the rear grab and some of the power divert and with 4200 pounds of weight get a 'controlled' front 1 wheel spin + 1 no wheel spin pushing and pulling the card forward and accelerate until the front had enough rotations to 'grab'
instead it tore ass off the front tire for about 500ms.. hit rev limiter.. rear grabbed.. that dropped rpm enough to lurch forward and make also the bad smell (clutch).. peg the rpm at 6500 again.. and then up-shift like Negan hit it with a bat.
Is this expected for non-pp? does the inability to turn of stability prevent 'full' traction off and full wheel spinning? or is this expected with the version of haldex I have (no lsd clutches?)
the launch was simple. power braked to just under 2000 rpm for 4 seconds. then jabbed the gas and let go of the brake. this put the car at about 2000 rpm at the time of launch.
thank in advance for any replies.
