Trying to get meth dialed in... Issues

I was gonna load my last data log and post it but I am not sure how to post it on here???
If on the PC, there is an attachments button under the box you type the body of your post.

You will typically see the QUICK REPLY box at the bottom of a thread.  Click on PREVIEW to see your the full REPLY options.  Then you will see the ATTACHMENTS button below the text box.

Or click on REPLY below the last post in a thread to take you to the full REPLY options.

Thanks for posting! I will let AJ be the judge, what I see is a very conservative meth tune based on the boost I am seeing. STFT seem better than other logs. But with the lower boost and load its hard to compare apples to apples. Regardless, the number you laid down at the track with that big girl says its working for you! To be honest I would be happy with that number on meth in my MKS and my tune looks to be hotter on the first revision. I would love to see the progression of the tunes that got you to this point. Do you remember if you where getting knock and he dialed it down? Again thanks for posting and great numbers on the track!

Yes people, your AJP is here.

Sabtaj I swear your other log you posted was way hotter? Your boost seems really low and it was commanding low boost as well

You aren't even at 15 psi all of 4th gear...It really looks like a normal Torrie 3 bar tune...

But your AFR's aren't as bad as the others..A little rich but pretty close to .80 lambda

And the STFT's aren't as bad either....They are in the .80's and near .90 so I would live with that for a meth tune..

Any tuner that knows would tell you if the stft's are that far off that the fuel curve is off....But there may not be a good way to do it...If you aren't using the meth then the stft's would have to add fuel because you took away the external fuel source(meth)

The ecu doesn't have provisions or have tables to tell it when and how much other fuel is being sprayed. So I guess you just let the stft's make the adjustments

I'll check my laptop in the AM.  I bet your right.  I don't think that was the last one I did. I'll find it and post it.

I am running the 10gph nozzle from alchohol injections.  I think I may have found my "hotter" datalog file.  not sure.  Havent quite figured out how to read it all yet.

You like their nozzle over the snow?

I never used the snow nozzle cause the threads were crap. But the AI nozzles are recessed to create a better atomized mist. So they say. But they reeled me in on it. Makes sense to me

Sabtaj I think that's the same log lol...At least similar..Not that hot.....I pretty sure you had one before that I said probably ran good

crap....  Well, Im just gonna have to hit a back road and make a new one.  Wanted to anyways since installing the hotpipes n what not.  Maybe I can get er done tomorrow

WOO HOO!!!  I figured out the knock problem.  It ended up being the "phantom knock" from the knock sensor wires rubbing against the engine.  Problem solved...  I also changed to an Alcohol Injection Systems 504 ml/min nozzle.
A log later and Torrie dialed her in, and she screams!

Thanks Torrie!!!!

I attached my newest log after the fixes.

Cool...cant wait to check it out later....i would keep an eye on it tho....unless you had a bare wire grounding out i dont think the wires are really an issue...the wires carry current and current isnt really disrupted by vibration

JCam550,

You are not getting any more boost than stock below 3500rpm...Might not be a big deal to most but it's wasting these wonderfully small turbos we have, why not utilize their advantage to offset the disadvantage they have on the top end?

You are only getting like 150ish kpa down low.

You are getting little lean spikes at the upshifts when the boost spikes...Surprising because you have plenty of fuel pressure thanks to the meth but its most likely because the trims are pulling 20% of the fuel  then the spike hits and the ecu was probably bringing down injector pulsewidth so when fuel is being pulled then a boost spike hits I could see a lean spike.

You aren't getting much more boost if any than your average 3 bar boost level the closer you get to redline so that kind of stinks but you are running more spark due to the meth so that's good.

Your wastegate duty cycle is at 100%! and you aren't much over 15 psi except for the spikes...I have no idea why....For your boost level I would only expect to see 60% or so.

Torque source is 0 so you are getting no torque reductions on your shifts....No mercy on the drivetrain.

And the fact that your knock sensor reading is flat is good and safe but I bet you won't ever see it add any because it's running what it thinks should be the max timing but because of the meth you could probably run more.

It looks like it runs well though, should be a beast and should be safe

I just sent that datalog to Torrie and he sent back an adjusted file so I'm assuming he made some of the same adjustments you were talking about.  I appreciate the input.  I'm learning a lot about reading logs.  I'll post up a new datalog of the updated tune tomorrow.

Yeah but the sad thing is, is that they always look like that...He probably changed some other things to his liking but most of your issues will remain

I've been comparing my logs to others for some time now, and I also get a few words out of Torrie from time to time :). I have seen him take several different approaches, sometimes when I ask about some changes he has made to my tune he will acknowledge he is testing or trying something different or new. I have never seen anything in the logs that look unsafe so I am fine with that. Seeing that most people using Torrie for tuning are using their cars as their daily drivers I would expect a safe tune. Log junkies like AJ can turn it up a bit as they are always watching, testing, tweaking. Though our tunes look different our performance looks very similar. Thanks again to AJ, I am also learning a lot about reading logs from his feedback.
