What have you done to your Ecoboosted vehicle today?

Didn't get much alone time with the SHO this weekend but my Zex Safe Shot kit is near complete.  Just need to run the no2 line from the trunk, using the frame as conduit, up into the engine bay.  Then maybe get fancy and bend some abs plastic to use to mount the arming switch and activation button.  But just to test it I don't need to go that far.  Can't wait.

Keep me posted lol. I think I'm going to try pre turbo spraying

I ran the line from the trunk to the engine bay last night.  It was sort of a pain.  That's done, just need to secure the bottle(drill into the trunk) and simply connect my toggle switch and I can check the lines for leaks, then let her rip tonight after work.

did the kit come with the relief valve and line vent to outside the trunk to pass tech inspection?

I'm not 100% certain I know what you mean.  Like a purge kit?  To test the lines for leaks I'll open the bottle and look for frost while the engine is running.  If I don't see any frost I should be good to go, then I'm to close the bottle and bc I don't have a purge kit I will need to loosen the line to either the bottle or the solenoid I believe.

Do you mean tech inspection at the track?  In that case I don't know....ive never done this before.  If you mean regular state inspection I'm not concerned with that.

to pass tech at the track. look at the middle of the page

Hmmm...definitely sounds like a safety feature for some crazy nitrous setup.  This is just a 15 dry shot.  Certainly don't need any safety features to that extreme.  But at the local track...now I will be one mad son of a .....if this turns into an issue.  Not sure if the rules are less strict on a street night with just test and tune.  Unfortunately the nitrous solenoid and nozzle are extremely visible under my hood

You weren't even going to purge were you?

No bc it's not needed for the small shots.  That's what I asked Zex about.  He said you need purge kits when you're using a wet kit and a much bigger shot...he said with the small dry shots especially a 15 it's not necessary bc it doesn't need hardly any pressure for that and no need for a bottle heater.

Eventually I wanted to purge bc it looks cool lol

I'll let you do the research on that too then I'll buy what you buy LOL I haven't received my kit yet, shipped yesterday. However I'm struggling to find a source for some nitrous so I'm not in any rush I guess either way

They won’t care. Just as long as the bottle is tied down. That’s the only thing they will even check. Many guys up there running it. They used to have a filling station on site up until 3/4 years ago.

Andrew one more thing and everyone else running nitrous. You will need an SFI 3.2a/1 fire jacket to run a non OEM nitrous oxide system at an NHRA track.

Thanks for that tip, that will save me from embarrassing myself at the track....but also sort of still be embarrassed for wearing a fire jacket for a 15 shot of nitrous 😂

But that will have to wait.  Got my kit all set and checked for leaks last night.  Good to go.  Did a log and afterward was super pleased....until the data log told a different story.  My STFT and LTFT flat lined, my fuel pressure dipped to just under 1300, AFR went FAT and then went 0 through pretty much 3rd gear and beyond.  Thank God for data logs...otherwise like I said it "felt great".  Good to know the SHO can still put up a fight with both hands tied behind her back....and still kick ass!  War Machine!  I still had no knock and my IAT2 temps dropped 40 degrees between 1st and 2nd gear.

Getting it sorted out now.  I just replaced my o2's so this should not have happened.
