Finally found out what failed on my 13 SHO

So for those that remember me and my SHO I finally found out what happened.

I received an email thanking me for my recent service on my SHO that was totaled by fire 6 months ago. So some one bought it from the COPART auction and got it running. So I searched craigslist and found this ad..

http://anchorage.craigslist.org/cto/4598805426.html

I called the number and spoke with the Russian guy who owns a shop with his father. I explained who I was and started asking questions. They bought the car for 7K from the auction and replaced everything in the engine compartment that was burned. He stated it fired right up however oil started pouring on the floor. They then found a hole in the block. So they short blocked the engine however it still didn't run right so they brought it to dealer. They found another line that was melted and informed him it was tuned. They fixed the hose and returned to stock. It was now running like new for an additional 8k. So they had a total of 15k and however many man hours to get it going. I still had a key fob and the manuals so I had him come over to my house so I could give them to him. DAMN I miss that car.

So here's the deal. The dealership did not notice in the month they had it that there was a hole in the block right above the hot exhaust? Also he said on tear down the piston was broke in half and had to be a manufacturers defect. His words not mine.

Anyway thought I would pop in and fill you guys in on the conclusion of my story. Someday I will own another one until then this is what I drive.

Interesting,  thanks for the update.    What tune did you have?

Seems way high of an asking price but I know things are more expensive up in Alaska.

Thanks for the update!  Does sound like a mfr defect.  Glad you made it out of that situation, and I see you are enjoying the Jeep :thumb:

Thanks for the update Dean!  Appreciate you filling us all in.  Good for us to know the problem was principally a manufacturing defect.  I hope it all works out for you.  It would be great to see you back in the SHO!

In the mean time, enjoy the new ride and thanks for the deal you gave me on the MyCal and 3BAR.

I love how they didn't mention anything about the previous damage in the craigslist ad along with saying that it has a clean title. Haha

Thanks and your welcome. One thing this car has that my SHO with PP didn't have is the adaptive cruise, man what an awesome invention. I do miss the cooled seats though, well that and the neck breaking acceleration.

Hold on, I just want to ensure I get this. So if your car didn't catch fire it might have been covered under warranty?

What happened to the OEM 20" wheels"  Those 18's in the pictures doesn't do the car any justice!

I don't get why the Cherokee Trailhawk model gets shafted on the cooled seats and HIDs.  You can get them on the Limited.  Doesn't make sense!

Curious to the same. If it was mfr defect, it should've been covered under warranty. Unless they knew of the tune?

I would have thought so also. They had it for a month they had to know.

Car caught fire in the winter so that's my winter setup. The 20" I sold to a Taurus guy after they totaled car.

I know the HID's would be awesome, not sure if it is because of the enhanced approach angle of the Trailhawk that they wouldn't fit in the facia or what. The cooled seats are going to be available in the 2015. You seem to know a bit about it do you own one or just thinking of getting one?

I also still have an airaid system to get rid of.

The ad is factually true, but so misleading at the same time. Thanks for coming back and filling us in - I agree that Jeep is awesome and looks like fun.

I was looking into getting a Cherokee Trailhawk when they first came out.  I think it looks sweet.  I was disappointed when I found out cooled seats and HIDs were only available on the Limited.

Yeah,  the would be nice.  How about a Cherokee Hellcat?  Lol.  I am seeing a lot of Cherokees on the road,  they must be selling well.  Look way better than any of the competition.
