Questions about cutout for aftermarket DP / stock exhaust

Thank you  FoMoCoSHO , 4DRHTRD and  BigMac  for bringing this project  together and thanks as well  to PPE for producing it  ......    Way to go gentlemen  !

4DR's hard work and the gracious offer of FoMoCoSHO made this possible!

No credit to me... I just want one and probably was a bit of nuisance about it. Thanks for putting up with me Mike!

Hey Mike, will I have the opportunity to have any enhancements/improvements done to mine while it is there?

I spent last Wednesday with Mike, the crews at PPE and BMR... I don't think Paul has had an opportunity to start work on getting a production jig done.  I discussed with Mike having an electric switch to turn the boost activation on and off... kinda the best of both worlds as far as control.  I have an email into Paul today to ask him about time frames on the cutout, which again, is not ready for production yet. .... I suppose anything within reason is possible...

We'll see what Mike says.

Wonder if we should start an "Exhaust Cutout Thread" and move all these posts out of the DP threads?

It is a thing of beauty!  Left click to enlarge the pics.

Well I am in no hurry, my build doesn't begin till until mother nature decides to behave herself.

I want PPE to have plenty of time to get everything perfect for you guys, the last thing I need is a bunch of pissed off SHO owners at my door because I was impatient, lol.

While I don't necessarily think the switch is needed, I suppose there are times it might come in handy.

I posted this on another thread pertaining to cutouts (Moderator delete please delete where you feel it is necessary). Here is what I posted....

"So I was thinking about removing the 3rd Cat on my stock exhaust and installing an electric cutout. I have The 4+ LMS tune and no DPs on the car, I decided to give LMS a call and see if this would affect the tune, they said it would. They recommended the Cat DPS, unfortunately I do not have $799  for the Catted DPs at this time. Has anyone here removed their 3rd cat on their stock exhaust and placed a cutout? And if so what problems (codes, tune, etc), and gains did you receive?"

Thanks for the info

I could site the reasons I want it, and the increases in HP that occur even with a stock tune which are gained by reducing exhaust restriction….
...But I would recommend  4DR weigh in on this… or you could PM him.
Since he developed the one pictured in my earlier post and used it in his 3.5TTEB transverse engine and it is still a "one of" he can best answer your questions about it.

Stock exhaust with my cutout I picked up .2 and 2MPH in the 1/4 mile with back to back runs.
We did an H pipe before the flex pipes on the stock downpipes into a single 3" down turn and put a bolt on cap for it.
Worked well.

This is my set up from the end of last year.  I remove the valves and cap it for over the winter months.
Did you have them made or were they off the shelf ?
How are they actuated ?
What did they Cost ?

4DRHTRD did you have a tune on yours at the time you installed the cutouts?

Absolutely, pointless without as ecu will limit your output.

Mike... Saw the other thread.... Whether Paul gets it done or you source it through another place, when the jig is made, can I get it black thermal coated and configured to bolt flange to the ceramic PPE downpipes and weld to the stock exhaust (this would also make require pins for the factory hangers)... I appreciate that this will add cost, but I'd like to stay in theme.  TIA
