Sure don't look like a Reische 170°, it has 160 stamped on it and says Germany/Even flow.Any ideas? I logged on my LMS account and ordered the Reische 170° Performance Thermostat..I don't understand why no gasket and came in no box.

I have heard that LMS might be going to 160.  I am surprised there was no box or o-ring.  Can you re-use the stock gasket?

No O-ring required, just replace with factory one it's not a problem.
They may have found a new source from overseas it looks like.

I ordered one directly from Reische and it did not look like that . They make there own t-stats . I did not take a photo before Install but it had 170 stamped on it and came with a new O ring.

Why not call them and ask them what's going on, I'm sure they will have some explanation that you can pass on to us...

I will update soon..I left a few emails already and Im waiting for an explanation for why a 160 is needed. I don't think this is going to work good with our cars.

Sorry, I wasn't pointing you out specifically, just remembering the convo and why I had the pictures.
I should have taken mine out of the Flex and looked at it after all the hard work it put in. :)

Guys,

We are moving to a 160* for various reasons. #1 is as the factory is a 180, the step to 170 was only a minor change. As these cars are making more and more power it benefits them even more to have a cooler starting point. #2. We worked with a Tier 1 OEM supplier to develop this new thermostat to ensure the highest quality and performance available. We also wanted a thermostat that is a true direct replacement, many thermostats we sold in the past were not a true direct fit. While they worked in certain applications they sometimes needed unique gaskets, spacers, or other adapters to work properly. We want our customers to have a trouble free experience, and part of this is ensuring the items we sell can use OEM designed and approved gaskets. Imagine being on a road trip and having a "unique" gasket fail. Where do you get one from? With our new thermostats those application issues are gone, so now you could get a production gasket and be back on the road quickly.

I realize that is a rare possibility, but it's just an insight into why we make changes on product offerings. We are always looking for ways to improve our offerings, and better service our customer's needs. Pushing the envelope means developing new and better products. This is what we do every day, and what makes us unique. We are always finding new ways to make our offerings better than before, and this is just one of those items that we developed for that.

Tomc612.....

I may be interested in buying your 160 thermo off of 'ya.

I'm liking the idea of drop'n another 10 degrees over the 170 that I bought from Unleashed Tuning a few years back.

Thanks for the explanation LMS! :ok:

Then why has Reische  dropped you as a vendor ?

They even say when operating in colder temps to switch back to the 180 t-stat because according to them sustained operating temps below 165 are harmfull to the engine .

It seems to me that a 160 t-stat would exacerbate this.

Double click the below info sheet image they sent to me and read the first paragraph.

I'm not  trying to bash Livernois , just trying to figure out the skinny on this.
