2013 SHO PP Or No PP

I know I am loving my non pp more everyday I drive. Just got my tuner, plugs and thermostat today from Livernois, super fast I ordered everything Monday afternoon. Hopefully I have the tunes by Friday, not sure I will load the 93 tune until I get two tanks of 93 run though it. I am still running the 87 out of it that the dealer put in and just went over 200 miles on it today, I still have over a 1/2 tank in it right now . So I guess it does not really matter if I have the tune this weekend or not. I will have the stat and plugs installed this weekend.

A couple of questions, this is not a knock on the site either but the search does not work real well. What size are our turbos? What is the third cat delete, who makes the pipes? Thanks. I will get photos up as soon as I can get it washed and waxed maybe this weekend too.

I just drove my tank down to a few miles left filled it with 93 and ran it about 25 miles to get a gallon through it.  Leave it to a dealer to put 87 in a SHO.  The third cat delete will remove a small portion of the exhaust resistance.  It is beyond the O2 sensors so you won't be throwing any codes by doing it.  You can cut it out and just weld a couple of pieces of 2.25 pipe in there.  Or, you may be able to find an X pipe to fit in.  Under the car, it's the first unit after the down pipes.  The second is the resonator.  Some guys have pulled that too.

I think you would have better results searching from the Home Page if you haven't tried that.

Can't wait to see the pictures!

dynomax muffler or mufflers ? you replaced both rear mufflers with dynomax and didn't add anything to replace the stock resonator ?

could you tell a performance gain ? any exhaust sound video ? Looks like nice work did they mandrel bend with SS piping ?

oh and what diameter piping on your X pipe ?

and back on topic there is just no way two identical cars with different gearing the one with lower gear is not going to accelerate faster at all MPH and RPM's. Stop, roll, whatever the car with the lower gear will push the car easier than the car with the longer / taller gears. The lower gear will go through the gears faster but out ahead of the taller geared car. My PP hooks up just fine from a dig. All of these cars modded to a certain level will have to battle traction. Then both equally moded with every upgrade out there still the one with the lower gear has an advantage. Both on drag radials both cars hooking yup :)

go baby go ! my 2013 PP stock with a LMS tune only (lifted at 120 real quick then got right back in it)
2013 SHO Taurus with performance package 0-140. Tune only by Livernois Motorsports.

YES BOTH MUFFLERS.
I was the 1st in the club to install the DynoMax (there is a HOW-TO-THREAD) https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=HSLiE8Q9Ct0

The X-pipe is 2.5" and all piping back to the DynoMax.

The DynoMax by themselves add no performance gain but sound good.

Not Mandrel but a very good low restriction bend. Yes SS-Pipes.
And the DynoMax's come as 2.25" axle back install kit but the MUFFLERS themselves start as 2.5" and step-down to 2.25" so my shop weld the 2.5" pipe right to my DynoMax's

As far as pwr gain (not have mandrel bends) on my LMS METH TUNE I pull 405 AWHP & 417 tor!!! Which is 2-3hp more than avg, So non-Mandrel did not hurt my hp.

2.5" Bends

Thanks everyone and yes I have used the search engine on the home page.

Showman I see a US Navy tag on your car, you in the service or were you. I am a retired BTC, retired in 1998.

Ok so that takes care of the 3rd cat delete mod, I think I'll just wait on that until I do the whole exhaust at one time.

How about turbo size does anyone know what size mm wise these are, I know they are small.

All this talk about comparing times is crazy, way too many variables.  Everyones car will run several tenths different depending on track/weather conditions.

You are right Darkside But that was said at the begaining. It's just fun talking about the differents.

do you have a better pic of your dyno sheet complete ?

what rpm is the power falling off at ? about 5k rpms ? that's what I'm hoping the XV1 tune will fix for us as Ford programed the boost to bleed off.

you have a lot of great videos ! thanks I enjoyed them :)

yeah but still apples to apples wouldn't the car with the lower gear still have at least some degree of acceleration advantage ? :)

I don't recall in any of my days in and around cars that people paid to upgrade to a taller gearing for a performance benefit.

right who does that ?

NO ONE ! ha ha there's just not one reason to unless you have a hardcore drag only car and your trying to avoid shifting just before the traps.

Unless your avatar picture was a one time event, you should know this.  My cars times will vary greatly from track to track.  I spent one summer racing my old TBSS at different tracks with the same mods, only changing the DA.  It ran anywhere from 12.85 to 13.25 with no changes.  Whenever someone thinks they have a factory freak, I tend to believe they ran in great conditions.

With that said, I would think that a PP holds some advantage but probably not much.  Put a skinny guy in a non PP and a fat guy in a PP and they are probably on equal grounds.
