3 Bar sensor

Say you swap for the 3 bar and get the tune that takes advantage of it. Is the stock tune able to work ok with the 3 bar sensor?  I'd hate to have to put the 2 bar back in just to revert back to a stock tune say for a dealer visit.

Nope, if you go back stock you have to swap out the MAP sensor. Sensor can be changed in less than 5mins.

The 3 bar sensor by itself doesn't mean more boost.  What it does is allow your tuning specialist to tune your car correctly at boost levels above 1 bar. ( roughly 15 psi).  So... this means that your stock turbos or custom turbos can be tuned to provide higher boost levels, depending on other mods and fuel choice.

Bob, your so smart.  I think most people can figure out a map sensor does not automatically tune itself...  Lol

You're*
Also, i'd doubt your assumption. Most people likely don't know what a map sensor even is.

ordered AA5Z-9F479-B for $83 plus shipping from Tousley Ford. He says the number is
AA5Z-9F479-AB on the actual part just like the picture someone posted on the previous page. He pulled a few MAP sensors from ecoboost vehicles since he was curious about the 3 bar becasue he has a Focus ST and likes ecoboost performance.

He comparred several MAP sensors and couldn't tell the difference in them at all. I figured the 3 bar with the part number above would have 3 wires / bars / sensors going through the actual sensor part kind of like a MAF sensor has those delicate little bars in there that you clean.

Oh well I ordered the right part for a good deal now bring the XV1 tune LMS !!!!!!!!!

EB... No, the 3 bar sensor just finds a higher concentration of ethanol sales locations in a confined space so you don't have to drive.... sorry, couldn't resist

Damn... I thought you were kidding... but you are spot on!!!!  I even found one with 15%... and it attracts 85% stations like a sky hook!!!!

I assume there is no reason / benefit to install my 3 bar until LMS has their XV1 tune ready right ? I mean there's no benefit with out the new tune so why bother asking them to tweak my current stage 3 or 4 tune just to run it for no reason in the mean time ?

I would just wait until I had the tune.

that's what I thoght just wondered becasue I see others putting them in now. Maybe they have different tuners that are already benefitting from installing their 3 bar MAP's ??

Some of it is just hype!  "I gots me a 3 bar sensor installed and the extra boost is crazy good:... LOL

I was actually the first to run one from what I understand.  Then Darreli got one, even though Livernois didn't think he needed it ( back in late 2010 - early 2011).  The problem with allowing the stock turbos to produce higher boost levels is the FRP.  If you combine the 3 bar with Meth injection which in effect adds fuel, you have less fueling issues.  Hopefully the new tune being developed will somehow get around that issue, but  it may be fueling issues that are delaying the new tune's availability.  Livernois doesn't want to sell something that may cause issues.  They wouldn't give me their methanol tunes without having my system dyno'd in house... and  I felt that was a very reasonable decision on their part. In fact it only came up because Rick knew I was spraying, when I asked for their 4+ to go with the other 2 bar tunes I had earlier purchased.

I always talk to Anthony with LMS about my LMS tunes and I beleive he told me they have been runing the XV1 on ecoboost vehicles in house and it only required the 3 bar MAP and a thermostat to run that tune due to it carrying the higher boost closer to the shift point or rev limiter. It made sense to me. Sounded like they may have it ready to release to everyone by the end of the year :) I'm excited about it I can definately feel the power fall off after 5k rpms after the boost bleeds off.

My boost didn't bleed off with Torrie's custom tuning.  In fact that's probably why my FRP dropped as low as it did at high RPM in 2nd gear. That's also where my boost peaked.

Fuel rail pressure oh wow....

was that the stock fuel system running out of fuel after a WOT run then ??

4Dr is much more qualified to get into the nuts and bolts of fueling than I.  Check for his write-ups.  Basically it boils down to more boost=more fuel needed.  Especially at higher RPMs.

More boost= More air= More fuel being demanded and our engines run the leanest at the TOP of 2nd thus the reason Mr. Bob said earlier explaining how he leaned out in the top of 2nd.
