Any regrets with your purchase?

Interesting thread...lots of good conversation!
I've been told, that at 41, 'this seems like a very grown up car for you', ha.
Until I purchased the SHO, I haven't owned a new Ford since my first Taurus LX in 1997. It was a great car and my great aunt still drives it. My dad owned an '86 LX, a '93 LX, and a 2005 SE Taurus.
I grew up a Ford guy, but, always owned Subaru's. After the Toybaru merger, Subaru's have never been the same, so, I defected.
When looking at the SHO in 2010, I compared it against the Infiniti M, Hyundai Genesis, Acura TL, Cadillac CTS, Lexus GS. I didn't feel like the Infiniti would hold up well, looking at slightly used models at the dealer. The Hyundai was nice, but, I felt like it was dads car with the fancy clock in the dash. During the test drive of the TL, thru a curve/dip in the road, the windshield made a loud creak noise. The CTS was too small and the GS felt like an appliance. The SHO won my personal comparison.
I love my SHO, even after 4 years. I had most of the 2010 issues, but, all were addressed by Ford within the first 8 months with TSB's.  Yes, I'd buy another, in a heart beat.
Regarding the Sync texting feature, only a few phones are compliant with the bluetooth stack that is required. When Google purchased Motorola a few years ago, Google changed the stack and failed to include the bluetooth MAP profile that is required for this functionality. They rolled out those updates to phones. That is why many reported that it 'used to work'. My current phone, the Razr M, will send and receive text via Sync.
My SHO doesn't have the heated steering wheel as that wasn't available until 2013. That would have been nice this winter. But, its loaded with everything else. I still get comments from co-workers that they cannot believe it is a Ford.
Its a fun car, loaded with luxury, and fun, to occasionally surprise the BMW guys at the stoplights.

A few more questions...  didn't find answers when searching.

1. Can the LED fog lights be programmed to act like a DRL?  I read on a Taurus forum someone had this done to a newer Limited model.

Sort of. I used a relay to turn on my parking lights (and the LEDs) every time the ignition starts.  Very simple to do if you understand basic 12volt wiring.

The 13 and 14s look so good with the parking lights and LEDs on.

To the op. Loved my SHO so much, we bought her sister the x sport for the wife. Love everything about these cars, sync included.

My only regret is that I traded in my 06 Mustang Convertible for the SHO. I should have kept the Mustang and got the SHO!

I have an Ingot Silver 11 with the 20 inch wheels. Its been an amazing car, superior to the Mustang in about all areas. Its amazing how flat it corners and handles. Kiddos love the heated back seats. The nav in the 11 works well but I think I need to update the data. Sync works great, no issues with that.

I was really surprised when I had it out in the snow. It had great traction with the stock Michelins.

No complaints or regrets (except that I have car payments now!!) :D

I was waiting to see what the 2015 Charger changes brought and they discontinued the R/T AWD, so that's out.  Like the other changes though.

I have yet to drive a SHO.  No used ones for sale locally (Colorado Springs), and only one '13 in Denver.  I have time though, so not in a rush.  I will check out the '15 WRX but I keep coming back to the SHO.  It's rare, it's loaded with my must haves, and can be fast with just a tune (it's "quick" in stock form).

My short list:

2013+ SHO ($30K)
2011 BMW 335xi (CPO $30K) - Never owned/driven a BMW, could be fun for a few years while under warranty
2012+ Infiniti G37x (CPO $29K) - Blah interior, limited on options.  Like the looks.
2015 WRX Limited ($33K) - Has potential.  Limited on options.  Only comes with summer perf tires.

I really want turbos and I really want factory remote start and ventilated seats.  That makes the SHO the only option alone.

I would think out of that list, the SHO would give you the most bang (or boost :D) for you buck. Nothing else offers the room, amenities or power at the price.

Id buy a SHO over again, but I would search for one WITHOUT active cruse control... Your one bastard ass raccoon away from not having any cruse control on your car what so ever with that system!

Best to drive one.... I'd buy a SHO again on a heartbeat... I love ACC and use it daily, others may not.... So different strokes... :beer2:

We absolutely love our XSport...it's fun, fast, luxurious, and still ridiculously practical. If I could/had to change one thing though...it would be sync/MFT...not a fan. It works OK for what it is...but compared to import satnav and functionality, it sub par.

I like my new Explorer I wish there was somewhere to put my left leg bad design

No regrets with my MKS. Wish I had gotten an ecoboost sooner!  Wish the one I bought had adaptive cruise but I don't use the cruise enough for that to matter. The sport appearance package gives it exactly the foundation I have wanted for quite a while. Hoping to keep this car for a good long while.

No regrets with the SHO. It's a great car.
My qualms?
I miss high power/manual trans. In fact, the more I drive the SHO, the more I miss a manual.
The second is size/weight...
The SHO is a mammoth car. And while I can overlook it's heft, becasue of its speed and surprising agility, it's still a heck of a footprint. When I drive my CX-5 or especially the Neon, it's very refreshing to be able to whip into a tiny space, or between another car and median...

I actually put F1's on my car around 50K.  Currently at 76K and still have 5/32nds of tread.  So I should get 35-40K of use out of the tires.  For 40K in the Euro market you're getting  a C250, base 3 series, or A4.  For the performance/options you can't touch a better car for the money.  One car that has my interest is the Chevy SS.  A little higher in price, but can be had next year with the manual trans and magnetic ride suspension.

You paid $40K!?... before taxes and fees??.... WOW!
and you haven't modded the turn signals you want...

I respect your opinion about modding the outside door mirrors, but you have cars half the price with that factory option included

Jimmy, have bpd drive his SHO in front of yours for protection :D

Ha! Now that's funny......

As long as he can keep up with not only my car, but also my mad driving skills.....

Keeping in my wake is key!  :drive:

Yup .... it's a minor thing but the SHO and MKS don't have turn signals integrated into the mirrors , yet the cheaper Fusion and MKZ  have em ...... go figure .
