PTU oil change write up?

well yours was at the top right ? so you had to pump the fluid in /out right from the top ?

I guess the 2013 PP PTU is good to have the drain at the bottom, but I don't know how to refill it other than to pump it in the drain hole and close it up real quick but then who knows what the oil level would be unless I measured what came out and only put that back in. Just doesn't sound accurate enough to me.

I thoguht maybe this bolt with my finger on it since it seemed to be at the top of the PTU, but I think it hold down the water cooler line going in ?

I'm taking a run to my parts guy. I'm going to see if he can print off the diagram and instructions for the fluid change on the pp. The water cooling must be the difference and the reason we can't easily make out the fill plug.

Yeah mine was on the passenger side about 3/4 of the way up. It was a  plug that I had to use a 3/8 drive extension to remove it.
I had  blue sealant and tamper marking paint on it.

I believe this is my drain with the red sealant. I don't know if this is a 2013 set up, or a PP set up, or a 2013 PP set up !?

No dice, he only has access to the same image that I already posted. If the service manager was in I could get it from him. But not on a Saturday.

Can you see what is on the top side of the unit?

no way it's buried.

I'm going to stop by the dealer and see. Will they have images that show how to do it that they can share ?

I usually take off the front p/s wheel and run a  flexible tube though the wheel well to it.  I vacc'd the old stuff out the first two times I changed the fluid, now i simply run two bottles of the fluid through effectively flushing out the very dark grey crap until it runs clear, similar to the older rear diffs and allow it to leak out the hole until it stops running and stick my pinky in the hole so the fluid is up to the bottom of the hole then replace the plug.

On 2013+ PP cars there is no fill hole. Filling would have to be done thru drain plug or thru vent tube. If it were me doing I would use a hand oil pump, looks like a big syringe with two hose one end would go in oil bottle and other into PTU drain that way you can monitor how much oil you draw out of the bottle to correctly fill the put.

This is the one I used.
It worked pretty well from under the car.

Ok maybe I am not getting something. How am I supposed to fill the fluid through the drain plug? Isn't the drain plug on the 2013+ pp cars at the bottom of the PTU?

Thanks Night Hawk, but that is a pre 13 car. The 13+ pp is a different PTU it's liquid cooled and the fill or drain is in a different location as far as we can tell.
